I was looking forward to walker killing it last week and being hungry to stay in to play finals. He was not good, and rightly so he was dropped. Ratten asked for intensity and he did not give it. I would honestly play him forward , but I would not be upset if we traded him for a good young KPP, but only if we win out of the trade.

I wouldn't be trading Walker. He can still become an A-Grader in my opinion. I reckon his weak tackling is psychological shoulder injury hangover which should disappear over summer (Cloke had psych trauma for a year after he was bashed... sometimes, it just takes a bit of time). His kicking has improved a lot. And I think he is being played out of position.

BUT, if we do look to trade him, I would be disappointed if we went after Brennan. He = Walker. Heaps of talent but inconsistent and subject to brain fades.

Happy to go after Rischitelli, Salopek, Goddard
I think it would be a BIG mistake to go for Tarrant. Reckon he'd be slack once he's back at home and into his last couple of years with a hefty sunset contract.

AND, I think we'll beat Freo but if we lose, we could still beat Sydney and then possibly beat Bulldogs in semi... (But I'd rather beat Freo)

But hundreds on here will try

You know; the oft repeated idea only becomes tedious as his trade value goes down. There's irony there. What's the point of trading someone that nobody else wants? It's a good way of sabotaging the argument.

I say you can't continually give away draft picks for players and have none coming in the other way, the way list building is structured, it defies common sense. Given my believe that trade bate is, by design, sometimes desirable, then someone's name has to pop up.

The question is, how many chances does Walker get. I am a fan as well but not in the defensive half.

Or do we trade Ratts because he doesn't know where to play his players? I know we are light on down back but everyone knows (except the MC) that Walker cannot play last line of defence.

Why not Scotland further back ? He was doing that really well a couple of seasons ago but everyone seems to have forgotton. If he plays half back we can release Russell to be the playmaker down back which he was doing really well earlier in the year alternating with Scotland.

That allows Walker to rotate middle and wing. Gibbs plays centre and forward.

Or is that a little too lateral for the MC?

Agree PPW- and not sure why we rushed Joseph back in either..
Walker would provide far more than Davies for such a crucial game.

Maybe AJ isn't fit and its a blind? Notice Walker is an emergency.

I think we all just need to accept that Walker will never be the A grader that we all hoped that he would be. Unfortunately, his kicking will always let him down at crucial pressure times, and now his tackling ability his absolutely pi$$ weak. I have no doubt the shoulder injuries have taken their toll on his strength in tackles, but his tackles very rarely stick, even when he has his opponent cold. Look at Varcoe last week. Stood up and a bit of a shrug and Walks was left floundering at thin air whilst varcoe kicked the easiest of goals. You can't afford to carry a bloke that gives up goals like that. He has been in the system for 8 years now. How long do you wait for someone to 'arrive'? He will never be an A grader and I reckon his papers may well have been stamped. Hopefully he can get us a reasonable pick or be the steak knives (oh yes its that time of year again) in a deal that sees something good come our way.

Not playing Walker on a wing/in an attacking role has ruined his career.

He's not a defender, never has been and never will be. He's a dashing half forward flanker/winger. If he is traded (a situation I think is becoming more likely) whichever team picks him up will play him where he should have been played for the past 8 years, and the CFC will probably look quite foolish.

I hope we do 2 things with Walker from now on in and they are mentioned by many previously;

1. Don't trade him. We will never won't get value for money and is worth more on our list!
2. Play him midfield and only midfield. Judd needs to spend more time with him moving forward.

Lot of positive Carlton articles in the papers today (Eddie in the Hun, Hendo in The Age)...doesn't that mean we usually lose?

It doesn't matter where you play him, he'll still be a poor disposer of the ball.

I'm curious.

Has anyone heard, or had an inkling who might take the heat off Judd and stand McPhee?

Pesonally, I'd love to see Robbo do the ring a rosy with him.

Robbo on McPhee would be a good match-up.

I wouldn't be on their table for a quiz night though.

The big question is how are all the freo supporters going to get home at 3/4 time with hardly any trains running? :smoking:
