Was disappointing to see Geelong get 3 goals from kickouts while we got none. There were numerous occasions where we failed to have a 3-4-5 zone setup when they were kicking out...we will continue to struggle until we are switched on for longer periods of time.

However his inability to stick a tackle could be because his shoulders are stuffed.
He definately doesn't lack the courage required...perhaps his body is not up to it.

Agree re Tex, just hope the club can do something about getting his confidence back.

Brings me onto Jamo, too. Little doubt his shoulder issues limits the amount of upper body strength work he can do in the pre season - his lack of strength is very disappointing and is stopping him from going to the next level IMHO. What do we do about it???

Bower also lacks strength and unlike the above has no flowering excuse. Into the gym in the pre season, Pauly, and let's not see you until you look like Arnie....

Bower is supposed to be the strongest player at the club.
I think his timing is off. His bodywork has really gone downhill. He missed a big chunk of the season.
I would like him to spoil players by running into them rather than by trying to body them. Problem is that he has been exposed on the lead too often. So he has some work to do.

Oh for a Luke Hodge type player at Carlton.....ability, courage and no fear......our missing link.

Although Robbo may be OK with a bit of experience and polishing.

Yeah it was dissapointing to see my favourite defenders getting out–bodied this year – Russell and AJ by Thomas against North Melbourne and Bower by J–pod. I don't see the J–pod as a gorilla. Is it too late for Setanta to learn the art?

I think Carlos at 27 probably won't improve on what we've seen so far.

Pros:

Competed well, and played some pretty good footy in patches against good opposition.
Gibbs. BOG by a fair margin in my opinion.
Murph seems to have come back to his best in recent weeks.
Waite and Henderson again. Seem to be developing a nice partnership up forward. Both kicked really well for goal.
Russell.
Warnock again.
Carrazzo on Ablett, until late in the game.
Ellard and Davies continue to show that they've got a good future at AFL level.
Grigg another solid game.
He might not have had the greatest game, but good to see Robbo make a decent contribution on the scoreboard.
Judd and Jamo were better than some suggested.
Got a good run with the umps again.

Cons:

Final margin.
I know it was against a very good midfield, but Hadley needs to make more of an impact in the clinches. Either defensively or offensively. Was unsighted in close.
Scotland and Simmo struggled to have an impact.
Ditto with Eddie and Garlett.
Bower and Walker got stitched up.

Pros-
Henderson, excellent workrate
Gibbs improving his hardness at the contest, Murphy offensively, Judds grunt work, Jamo getting confidence back, Carrazzos perseverence, Ellard worked hard. Waite was better. Really impressed with our forward structure.
The forwards were obviously working hard to seperate the Cats defence and make them individually accountable for an opponent. Every time one of their backs dropped off to fill the hole, his opponent would work into space to drag him back. It worked well.

Cons
Juddys ball use. I suspect his change in running technique is causing issues with his kicking. In his earlier days, Judd was a lovely kick. Straight and compact.
Eddies goalkicking. Tighten your technique up and keep it simple Eddie.
I thought Grigg went back to old habits of burning the ball under pressure.
The defensive work of our mids. Selwood continually stood 5 metres off the stoppage late in the 3rd Q and was given a free run at the ball whenever he wanted. Someone needed to worry about an opponent and put a body in his way.
Our inability to capitalise when we were controlling the game.
Our rucks were down against average opposition.
The inability to complete our tackles.

..you might not see J-Pod as a gorilla type, but i reckon you'd be wrong.. ..it takes years to really get that core body strength.. ..combo that with experience years give you, and i reckon J-Pod definately factors in as a gorilla type.. .he's bigger than he looks on tv.. ..if he could outbody the geelong defenders regularly at training [bomber said that why they went after him], then i figure our defenders arent strong enough yet..
