I heard that if we get a home final vs either Sydney or Freo it will be played at Etihad?!

From memory the deal was re-negotiated when the MCG agreed to allow two interstate prelim finals, that they'd get all 3 Vic finals in Week 1

If there are 4 games in Melbourne then Docklands will have to host one of them due to the fact that you can't play two games at the one venue on the same day.

For this to occur: Carlton beat Freo - Dawks beat the Filth - Lions beat Sydney
Dawks play Freo (5v8) - Carlton play Swans (6v7)
Not sure which game will be forced to the Dome though...

Playing with the ladder predictor is very interesting. All teams in the bottom half of the top 8 can finish anywhere from 5th to 8th bar the Swans - the lowest they finish is 7th.

The scenario is simple - a Carlton win on Friday night means a home final. A loss means we will have to travel interstate.

I want a home bloody final, we haven't seen one since the tiges 2001.

...but I might make my way up to Sydney if we're drawn to play the Swans at ANZ.

Relax people. I'm coming to Melbourne in the first week of the finals, and I booked the home final months ago.

I think it is safe to say with the form Sydney are in they will beat the lions and finish 5th

so if we beat Freo and the Hawks lose - We play Freo in Melbourne
If we beat Freo and the Hawks win - We play hawthorn
If we lose to Freo - we will play sydney at ANZ

So you would almost rather lose this week, finish 8th, play interstate at Subi/ANZ and if win play the loser of Dogs/Pies which will be the Dogs.

..it's finals.. ..doesn't matter who or where, only the very best footy you can play will get you a win, and another week.. ..IF we play our best, we'll win regardless of who or where we play.. [at least for week 1]..haha..

I keep reading that we need to beat Freo AND for Pies to beat Hawks for us to secure a home final. My calcs tell me that if we beat Freo and Hawks beat Pies, we still play in Melbourne, vs the Hawks, or the Swans if they lose. Lazy journalism.

Unless I've missed something we win, and we're at at home guarenteed.

If Carlton lose, we're 8th. Simple. Hawks cant get to 5th even if they beat Collingwood so it's off to Sydney or Perth.
