GROTH I get what ur trying to say but there will always be coaches who copy other coaches tactics especially if seen to be effective....maybe its not so much about innovation but implementation....

I agree there is nothing wrong with copying, but it's nice to come up with something new that gives you an edge while others are catching up.

Hard to argue that Hawks rolling zone was innovative and was a factor in "stealing" a flag.

The Cats kamikaze ball movement went beyond what anyone was used to.

Ratts will have a flash of insight at some stage soon hopefully

I reckon we have been innovative a few times this season....I mean no other team has played a 4 foot nothing rover as a key position player especially one that played at CHF for many weeks

West coast beat us to that one years ago with Matera.

my mistake I thought matera was taller than betts....

Yeah i thought Betts would have been smaller too but he is a couple of cm bigger than Matera.

Pro: - Betts

Harry O'brien shepparding the man on the mark ?....a simple pick and roll.....yeah we will copy that too eventually.

I hate this tactic and can`t believe the AFL haven`t done anything about it. Should be outlawed. Totally against the spirit of the game. Potential to cause injury too. I have noticed more clubs doing now.

Yep. It doesnt seem right this tactic. Someone will get hurt soon and they will outlaw it.

There is a fair bit of basketball type blocking going on to change match ups when fwds go on a lead. I think there is a fair bit more to come.

A team can defend what Harry is doing if they are switched on and have planned for it.
It just takes a man to follow Harry in and sit a couple of metres behind the mark. He can't sheppard 2 blokes at once.
