Saints are 30 pts up 22 mins into Qtr 3 so most likely will win. If Saints win then Blues are virtually guaranteed a finals spot bec Dees cannot catch us and North will be 2 games and about 20 % pts behind us, so really we can celebrate making finals in 2010 in about 40 mins I would say

And if Hawks knock off Freo in Tasy next week, then the last game btw Blues and Freo will be a battle for 5th spot

What if Sydney or Hawthorn lost both their games?

Hawks will be sore after that slog in the wet today but they should beat Freo.

Yep we're in.

Thanks St Kilda!

5th-8th is up for grabs but even if we lose our last 2 the lowest we'll finish is 8th on percentage.

Run home

Freo: Hawthorn (Au Tas) Carl (S)
Us: Geelong (ES) Freo (S)
Sydney: Bulldogs (SCG) Lions (G)
Hawthorn: Freo (Au Tas) Filth (MCG)

On paper Sydney look the most likely to win both of their last two games and we look most likely to lose both our last two. I agree Freo might throw away next week against Hawthorn and focus on Round 22. God I hope the Dogs beat the Swans next week but Sydney have only lost 1 game at the SCG this year.

(should this thread be merged with the Carl vs Syd thread?)

Sweetest thing in all this is none of the other afl captains n bugger all media had us making the eight. If we can bolster the defense over summer we will be coming on nicely what with hendo stepping up the last fortnight.

Barring upsets if the Swans beat the dogs in Sydney next week the likelihood is that we'll play Freo 1st week, the last game deciding where. If the Dogs win that game we're likely to play the Hawks.

Best scenarios in order would be ...

1. Freo in Melb
2. Sydney in Melb
3. Freo in Perth
4. Sydney in Perth
5 Hawthorn

Most impossible scenario :

We absolutely thrash Geelong and Freo.
The Dogs get absolutely thrashed by the Swans and Essendon*.
We make up the 18 % and level on points with the dogs ... end up in the top 4 ... lol

I have us finishing 5th. Losing to Geelong, Beating Fremantle.
Fremantle 6th - losing both games (Hawthorn / Carlton)
Sydney 7th - losing to the Bulldogs, beating Brisbane.
Hawthorn 8th - Beating Fremantle, losing to Collingwood.

Carlton vs Hawthorn (MCG)
Fremantle vs Sydney (Subi)

Oops .. well .. i was distracted ... you know what I meant .. Sydney in Sydney ....

I hope we don't end up playing Hawthorn.

I just work out how we could get into the four.

Bulldogs need to loose by a combined total of 130 points for their last 2 games.

We need to win by a combined total of 130 points for the last 2 games.

Ok .. call me a dreamer ... but if we manage to beat Geelong by say 40 points and the Dogs get thumped by 100 points by the Swans ... I will start getting toey.

If we'd kicked straight against the Dockers and won, and had beaten the Eagles by 10 + goals like we should ve when we played them at Etihad, a top 4 finish may still have been within reach right now...
