Just heard on SEN that Hammer could get up for this weeks game. No significant damage or injury

This could get ugly. Cats have a genuine beef with us and will bring the hurt. We must be ready.

Why Don?

Didn't they kick 12 or so in a qtr v Port the week before we played them last time? Like, the most "awesome" 3 rd qtr ever played, or so it seemed. They won by about 16 goals, IIRC. Good omen me thinks going into this week.

Back then it was all "booga booga", what are the big bad Cats going to do to us. We won by 6 goals.

Bomber will have a few sleepless nights going into this game.

Yeah, we were "hurting" for 6 games in a row losing to the spud Bombers, weren't we? You should know better than anyone!

Jeffy and Co are waiting for them....

I remember after the Saints game last year..where we came close.
it was a ripper of a game..and really intense for 4 quarters.
I came away feeling as though we won, and if we make a contest of it,
quite honestly,I don't think I'd be disappointed at all to lose.
having said that...how amazing if we could win.

exactly! one of our best games last year I reckon and was very proud of the way we played.

We haven't played many tight games this year either (maybe Port) so it would be interesting to see how we go in a close one.

Still expecting a thumping though :)

..can't agree, we were shite in the 1st Q and gave those 'aints a 6 goal head start.. ..and i'm sick and tired of giving good teams head starts that no matter how brilliantly we play after that....we're too far back to win.. ..we've played them very well last two times, but don't underestimate how much better they'll be with scarlett and ottens in for them [missed last 2 times]..

Just want good strong competative football. The Cats are suspect when other teams bring the heat to them. Good test to see just how much we have refocused since the disaster against the Filth.

Not sure why we'd worry about playing these guys at Etihad, look what we did to the Saints there, and their record is just as good as the Cats at Etihad (which is freaking awesome I admit).

I'd like to bring in Yarran to exploit their lack of pace down back. I'm not sure who would make way though.

Hope the boys embrace the challenge this week.

For those of you who have been bagging me this year about betting "against Carlton"..... I'm actually whacking $25 on em at $4.30 :-)

Hows Yarran been going in the magoos.? I'm not a big rap for the guy (think he's got more ability than Jeffy and Eddie combined but just goes through the motions, but lets not go there) but surely we need to get him some game time BEFORE the finals, if we intend playing him in the finals.

how would you hedge your bets?
putting 100 on Geelong at 1.25?

Does it really matter whether we get the 4 points in this game? Really, In theory looking at the ladder predictor, a win against the cats will only mean we'd expect to beat freo in round 22... meaning hawthorn beating freo this weekend and bulldogs beating the swans will cause a carl v haw first final. Now honestly speaking, i still don't see our backline being able to contain power forwards in a finals match. e.g buddy and roughy

Am I way off when I say that I don't see us losing to freo round22?? they look tired as it is, this week they will make the longest trip in football perth > tasmania to face the hawks who play physical footy. hawks will no doubt win that game.

Now a loss to the cats puts carlton in the position to play freo round22 in subi, we win.. then we face them again in a home final? which in theory seems the best and only option for of making the grand final, WHICH I OBVIOUSLY AREN'T EXPECTING, but that seems the ONLY slim chance of any success come finals? again, I'd like to replys on other peoples current views on this.

Now IF we come out and beat geelong and beat freo, (collingwood surely beating the hawks in round22?) will result in carl v haw final.. 5th v 8th.. unless anyone can see sydney beating the doggies this week? and then the lions beating sydney in round22 then this will be the likely outcome with a win against the cats.

As for those who think this should be fisher's last game, based on the likely finals outcome if we win, then give him his 100th so he can repay the club with his vfl skills and try apply them against enright, scarlett, hunt, taylor, milburn which will cause a contest and ruin any chances of a win! Surely we all can see now that tanking did exist at carlton, SURELY we can accept a respectable loss here to better our chances come finals?

Anyone who replys to this post, i'm aware no one might agree with anything i've said that's why i'm asking for other peoples views on what they think? do we just accept a win over the cats then dockers and lose against hawthorn? or do we lose against the cats, beat freo and play freo here? because losing to the cats and losing to freo we don't deserve to play finals in my opinion...

Swans are going very well. No hesitation at all selecting them against the Dogs given it's in Sydney. The flu they have is a lingering one. Every one i know has had it linger for a few weeks. I'm not convinced they'll be sharp next week either.

If that happens we'll play Freo, barring us winning against Geelong. Just that the last game then decides if we play them here or there 1st week of the finals. Swans winning this week will go along way to us avoiding the Hawks.

Pies have one horrible record against the Hawks. Pies beat them earlier on when everyone was beating them this year but it was consistently 10 goal losses or close to it. Even during the Pies winning streak late last year in the middle of it an average Hawthorn side ragdolled them by 10 goals.

Not interested in hedging my bets. I usually just bet on predictability.

But.... Just for fun (and cause I've done quite well this year) I'm gonna bet with my emmotions. And my heart tells me Carlton this week.

Don't care if I loose money...... Just wanna see us go all out!

You don't hedge your bets unless you're guaranteed a win either way.
