I think the incorrect assumption is that we will be playing Sydney at the G' if we do indeed have the 'home' final.

I don't see why any Melbourne final has to be at Etihad if there's one played interstate. Or do the AFL have a commitment to play one there?

The only commitment is that one final must be played at the MCG each week. If interstate teams finished 1, 2, 5 & 6, the 6th placed team would have to play at the MCG.

Surely they wouldn't fixture a Carlton final in Melbourne at Etihad....

i reckon we will play freo in the finals and whoever wins the R22 game will finish higher and host the final

will either be Freo 5th v Carlton 8th

or

Carlton 6th v Freo 7th

Freo have a tough game next week against Hawthorn in Tassie. They could loose. It will be interesting to see their team selection for next week as they have some key players out with injury.

The following week, on Friday at Subi, Freo play CFC to determine who gets the home final. See above comment for finishing positions.

I have assumed that Geelong defeat CFC this Friday at Etihad. If they bring 80% of their game last night against the Bulldogs this is a likely outcome. Best hope for CFC is that the Bulldog's virus goes through the Geelong team.

Big games today.

If Melbourne and North lose I think they will probably start to lose steam

From a purely selfish point of view, I wouldn't mind if we end up playing Sydney in Sydney in the first week of the finals. I don't think that will happen, though. That would mean we finish 7th to Sydney's 6th.

Despite the lacklustre manner in which we played Sydney first time round, I'm confident we can beat them. The team is far more balanced now than it was then.

Early indications are over here that Freo will throw everything on the line for the round 22 game against us. Would not be surprised if the big fella misses this week and will play against us.

Such a huge game now.

By then he would've missed a month. Won't beat Gelong but we're a big chance against Freo.

Certainly hope its prophetic playing at the G against the Swans - been a very long time since the baggers won a final.

My prophecy inidcates we will lose both and scrape in the eight by percentage.

...what makes it worse we will play Fremantle at Fremantle two weeks in a row......

That could work for us. Have we lost 3 in a row this year?
Two losses then a team meeting where the players get told some truths. Then they come out breathing fire and chin the Dockers on there home ground in the first week of the finals.
