It is important that Chris Newman is stopped on Saturday. I have watched most of Richmond's games this year and they love to get the ball in his hands. He is a very good kick.

Carrazo on Bret Delitio

Mitch on Chris Newman

Ellard and Hadley should take care of Martin and Tuck.

I agree AB.

Newman has been fantastic for the tigers this year. Really stepped up for them and so has Delidio.
Really need to focus on those 2 players' potential output. Maybe Gibbs could play the defensive forward role on one of them?

Gibbs did the job on Deledio in round 1 if i remember. Ran off him for a couple of goals in the end too.
You would have to go with that again and give Carrazzo the job on Newman.

Tuck, Martin and Jackson are the engine room of Richmond. We need to stop these 3 getting first hands on the ball as they set Richmond up around the stoppages and CB clearances. Hadley and Grigg have big roles to play IMO with Jackson more than likely running with Judd. Ellard on Cousins could be the smokey, similar pace but Ellard has the attack on the ball to cull any influence by Cousins.

As for Deledio and Newman, both will get posessions, it's just a matter of making sure they are pressured when disposing of the ball and making sure their direct opponent makes them accountable defensively.

Stop Reiwoldt and they lack the power to score big, Morton can be dangerous and needs to be closely checked, maybe this job should be left to Gibbs, now Morton has moved up the field a bit?

Pound to pound we are a much better side, yes we need to watch a few of them but I'd rather we dont go to defensive and let them worry about us.

Gibbs should be used in an offensive role rather than being defensive.

Well that's my thought anyway.

Keep Davies in the side as the third tall with Ellard assuming Joesph's role and Walker to go into the midfield to add pace.

Christ no.

Give him a job that is primarily defensive and if he can hold his man down its a win.

Carrotts should be threatened with internal fines if he tries those left foot bullet passes again.

I want to see lots of blocking and shepherding for our skilled disposers who need space created to run and carry.

If the rain stops and the ground clears a bit, then the rucks will determine who gets their hands on the ball first.

Warnock is showing the kind of form that supports his drafting from Freo. At the start of the day (and at the end of the day) he is 2.06 meters tall. If he jumps off the ground, he should get to the ball before the other ruckman does. Against Essendon* he was able to position himself to palm the ball where he wanted it to go. This resulted in clear break away movements via a hand ball or two to a forward running player (lets hope it is someone who can kick to a leading forward).

If this can be done say 2 to 3 times a quarter, it should result in a high percentage of goals scored.

Normally > 16 goals will win the game (unless the defense is very leaky).

We should be able to get the other goals needed from turnovers. Last week Richmond had 16 goals scored by Melbourne from their turnovers when in heavy traffic.

So lets aim to win the game with control of the ball from centre clearances using the best advantage - the tallest ruckman on the ground to direct the ball to our skillful midfielders.

Like Davies and think he'll be a good player. Caught with the ball early, but adjusted to the pace ok after that. But, if Walks can't get back in the team after 45 possies (even though it was Frankston), then the coaching staff are sending him a big message. IN: Tex OUT: Davies

Should be ok, but don't expect to get anything undercover if the weather is crap (save for the nose bleeds).

you would think that would be enough, but Carlton have been vunerable this year and it's games like this when I really get nervous.

At $3.30 for Richmond, I'm whacking $50 on em for insurance.

(for those if you who are wondering, no - I decided at the last minute not to back Essendon*.)
hehe

If any change at all it will be Walker for Davies....but I say no change. :)
