Armfield is as quick as anyone we have.
Fisher is slower than anyone we have.

Ratts is hoping that if we win the midfield battle the goals will take care of themselves. I am not so convinced. I see Setanta is an emergency

Poor old Brad Fisher. I don't think he is up to senior footy any more, but surely if you are worth one game, you are worth two. It's not like we have jezza coming back in to replace him. And he might be slow, but he doesn't shirk. He is on 99 games, and really, be hard work getiing a kick on the Blues forward line when we are getting flogged. Really harsh on a good servant. Let's face it, apart from Judd you could throw the names of the team in the air and drop whichever ones land face down and it would make little difference. I reckon he is a scapegoat for something that is not his fault. If he was placed at Full forward and told to stay home, he can take a mark at least and was no worse than half the team. Let's hope he gets one more game before the end of the year. If not for him then for the potential father son in 20 years or so.

And Walks has been up and down, but he is tough, he doesn't shirk and has played better over the year than several team mates. Hads has been tried and found out. He is genuinely tough so happy to have him in, but he couldn't run out of sight on a dark night.

I reckon Ratts has pointed us out as softies and then dropped a couple of players who aren't soft.

Ratts loves AJ. I thought he had a couple of very ordinary fumbles on the wekend when he was looking out rather than looking at the ball. Against Nth there was one blatant example when the ball was chipped in front of him. Instead of running full pelt and marking it he slowed, and let it bounce - subtle, but there and cost a set shot from 20. There is a difference between being tough and being niggly. He needs to look ta the ball every time this week and not worry about who might be about to run into him.

Good luck to Davies. His kicking skills look a fair way off AFL standard - so he should fit tight in with our side. he is tough, and at this stage I'll take anyone tough. Maybe Setanta is an emergency for hendo who is supposed to be sore.

Anyway, we are in the 8 and playing an ordinary inexperienced team at a club rife with dissension. No excuses, no statistics, just win.

The selections seem to suggest a plan to close down their run with hard at it types....the obvious strategy being to close down the corridor....will this actually happen????

Or to send a message to runners like Johnson & Walker to do their job or GTFO. Personally I would have gone with the idea that Walker is looking a bit jaded (and has a back niggle) and given him more spells up forward.

With Hadley in, you'd expect Murphy, Grigg & Judd to play a little more outside. The latter two are no slouches.

We have tried that one many times but they were always too good for us.

Quite disappointed that fisher is out as well - was a tough first up game to impress in last week given the way the team played. Deserved a second chance and the opportunity to play a 100 games for the club. Perhaps he will get another opportunity in the coming weeks if he continues his good ants form though its not looking too good at this stage.

Quite excited to see davies get a game though - was impressed with a few of his preseason games.

Apart from Judd? Kade Simpson has been our best player for the past month by a country mile.

Not happy about Fisher getting dropped.

That will be a key. I hope Robbie can have another good game in the ruck for us. May need to be rotatated a bit more with Hampson. If we can just get some players to be there for him to palm the ball down to.

It worked for Grigg. Fisher had a very poor first half.

Have you read the age today? Ratten has given the players a day off??? Lol. "here guys, cause you played like 2nd grade pussies, take the day off.... You deserve it!" haha. !@#$%& hilarious.

Madness aint it!

Ratts is really worrying me. I don't think he really knows how to inspire our team. He leaves it up to Judd to do it on the field for him most of the time. But when it requires the coach to gather the group together and guide them through a rough patch, I reckon he's a bit wanting.

Walker is listed as omitted but according to his old man on CSC he has a back complaint, so I assume he is one of the "sore" ones.

Fisher was terrible first half last week but who wasn't? I daresay he would have been better given another chance though. Can't see the point in omitting him if he's not directly replaced ie with Carlos, FWIW I think Carlos should be in the starting side, tell him to crash, bash and get in people's faces, @#$%&! knows we need some of that.

Hopefully the inclusion of Hadley will free up Judd et al and Hadley should be bloody playing with a rocket up his bum if he wants to stay in navy blue.

Thornton is very stiff esp with the omission of Walker from the back

I am extremely happy with the Fish being out. He is just not up to it. I guess that in the spirit of generousity we should probably give him at least one game before the end of the year. I mean if we can get Mick Martin to a milestone we can do it for a once good and loyal player for the CFC. You just wonder though how good he could have been without all the injuries. He really has never been given the chance to work on the defficiencies in his game and now he is just too costly to have in as an inclusion.

However, having said all that I would have thought that we are at least one forward short though at the moment.

agree though imo if grigg stays (as opposed goldcoast speculation) then he is gone - mclean, grigg, robinson would cover our main inside mid needs (with backup from other younger players)

Yeah, I also think Fish is a bit stiff. C'est la vie. It would be a travesty if he was not afforded a 100th game. But, under the circumstances, if we're fighting for a finals berth and he doesn't feature in Ratten's best 22 then he might not get the gig.

Pretty happy to see a new kid get a run, though. Hope Davies has a dip and plays well.
