Given that we have all week to practice it and most teams set up a zone (nothing new and surprising there), and it occurs about 15 times a game, why are we so bloody bad at taking kickins after an opposition point??
Last year we perfected the 7-point play for the opposition.
This year we look even worse when kicking in - Russell is clearly uncomfortable taking the kick in. Scotland doesnt want to do it. Our designated full backs - Bower or Jamo are raely given the chance.
It has to be the easiest aspect of tema planning yet Ratts seems un able to fix the bleeding obvious!!!!!!!

Does anyone know why or have any suggestions??

It was so funny today watching them kicking in. Just the time they took, and then in the end bombing it to a pack to see it marked 90% by a Collingwood player. Matter of fact, it was the most entertainment any of us had at the game today - Filth supporters included. Oh, apart from Did's outrageous tumbling torp from 60 metres, which was second only to Buddy for GOTY :donk:

I could go to the ladies, have a pee and get back to my seat in the time it took JR to kick out today.

Don't blame the kicker. Can't be easy deciding which witches hat to kick at.

Impossible to kick in to witches hats as stated above.

Piss poor Carlton effort.

Full credit to Russell for being the only one with enough guts to do it.

Russell's fine with the task - yeah he does @#$%&! it up occasionally, so did Houlihan, Gibbs etc. Scotland would potentially be better as he's a booming kick and with our lazy flowers you may as well gain meterage.

Piss poor Carlton effort.

Agree. We also trot to position ourselves at every line, even the kicker. Same thing happens a lot in general play when a mark is taken. Too slow to turn around and assess up the field, and barely anyone makes a run.

Ratten's style of football is good, but the players are not invigorated by the challenge, and never seem to bring the intensity required, even in warm up drills. Perhaps they need to be made to prepare more as they play. Perhaps they are being over-prepared.

It's an issue for both parties to sort out in my opinion.

probably meaningless but I was behind the goals at the Punt Rd end and during our warm up we missed so many bloody goals. Players were just jogging in and booting it and missing by miles most times.

Noticed this also at Subi last week. Pretty sure I posted it here in the aftermatch of the WC game.

We can't even hit targets in the warm up
