hmmmm. Lemme think about that one. Na, he's ok, and does have a lot of skill but has been down like the rest of them for the last month and a bit. 2 years ago I sat next to the Richmond cheer squad (took my 12yo daughter too !) and there was a bloke drinking from a wine cask bladder who said "Bryce Gibbs........worst no.1 draft pick of all time". Bryce kicked 4 that day and I bagged the toothless tiger fan mercilessly.

2 years on, and I reckon he was spot on.

I reckon Hughes has given the club decent material to work with. It's up to the coaches to nurture and develop it though.

ok, you have a point. But that was when they didn't screen them properly (Livo at 4 ?) I suppose they can't measure ticker though.

Unless you watched a different game to me but not 1 of our players did well today.........

To single out 1 bloke after todays pathetic TEAM effort is absurd and shows how fickle some people are.

BTW it's pretty hard to have an influence on a game playing FB for the entire second half.

I'm not fickle...............just very sad at where we're at. I look to our high draft picks to show something in the rabble that we've become. I don't worry if Joseph stuffs up, or Jamo makes a blue (rookie pick), but when your no.1 pick is sub standard, well it hurts. Sorry.

The list lacks depth.....Obree, Lockyer, Anthony, Medhurst cant get a game for the pies....thats the same as Carrazzo, Scotland, Houlihan etc playing in the Bullants all year...not going to happen.
Thats why we wont improve until those players have to fight for their spots....you need that competition to grow your list.....Collingwood have it and we dont.

They have coverage for positions.....we dont.....Presti out...N Brown in.......Jamison out and its screws with our structure big time....

Until we get that depth and coverage we wont be going anywhere.....couple that with some ordinary coaching from the coach and his brains trust and you get the kind of carp dished up today...

I suppose I'm expecting him to be above the "standard". And for a fair while I reckon he was, but not for most of this year. Watch guys like Scully, Trengove etc, just really exciting and make things happen. Is it because Ratten plays him out of position ? Maybe. The game these days is all about having a midfield that can be heavily rotated (e.g. the Filth). We just need to play all our best players in the midfield all day and see what happens (Judd, Murph, Gibbs, Simmo, Yaz, Betts, Garlett, Grigg). No point in having Gibbs on the full back line for too long :screwy:

Yep agreed. Eddie is neither tall nor bulky and regularly concedes a significant height and weight difference to his opponent and to expect him to be our main forward target is ridiculous. For someone his size he isn't bad at contested marks but just can't expect him to grab them all the time.

I actually laughed out loud, think it was in the 2nd quarter and the ball was kicked forward from the hAlf back line and it appeared that the only player we had forward was eddie betts on the wing who competed a 2 on 1 marking contest against O'Brien and Maxwell.

hat really really annoys me, despite being out classed was that when the damage was done what was the structure?

i'd rather play some man on man footy and have a dip.

how the hell are we sposed to progress with no @#$%&! game plan.

i've lost complete faith with Ratts and he's enemy no 1 in my book.

ratts if you really care stand down.

let bailey go care taker and lets get someone who knows how to coach in.

judd getting injured could be a blessing in disguise.

I hope he misses the rest of the home and away season to be perfectly honest.

Judd looks absolutely knackered. lets give him the rest of the season off, and let our front running bunch of soft *&@!$ try and win their own ball. it would be an edifying experience for all.

The other results did us a favor again and we are still in a good position to finish inside the 8, however today we failed again to absorb the pressure. We didnt play our natural way. We wanted to be negative and stop the opposition and we paid the price.

We can all praise the efforts of some players but it is quite Clear that guys like Fisher, Ellard, Joseph and a couple more are nothing more than VFL players who just don't have what it take to be good AFL Players.

Our list Management is poor and it needs further Cleaning up. Too many Lazy players who have relied too much on Judd to do everything.

I hope Judd misses next week and gets some rest so that someone Else in this Group can wake up and puts his hands up.

You mean Riley? Bailey was appointed by Melbourne after an exhaustive and professional interview process, after 2007 if I'm not mistaken.

just listened to Ratts post game conference. his comments re let the whole footy world see how the players respond next Friday night was alarming. interesting territory he is moving into here. Very much distancing himself from the outcomes and very much saying we will win or lose if the players win the contested footy.

Bit different to Ross Lyons comments post Saints / Essendon* when he said the team were poor but that him and the assistants were all responsible for getting the team up next week.
