Betts, Yarron & Garlett - There is only room for one of you.

If your roles were to get behind the Half forward line and to run into space, today you all failed.

If your roles were to get up into the middle to contest, today you all failed.

If you were to play defensively, today you all failed.

Kicking goals in easy wins doesn't count.

Less than 10 Disposals means you are not working hard enough.

Time to produce when it counts!!

Hate to break it to you but it's pretty hard to get into space when the ball is delivered to your opponent time after time or you're double teamed.

Yaz was ok in patches, but Betts and Garlett were woeful. Don't worry about them though...........the coach must go before they do.

we played a taller fwd line today. hendo, hampson, waite at times and fisher. how much taller do you want it to be? Not much good being tall if you can't get the pill.

The 3 small forwards was a novelty, a party trick.

It was never going to work long term, in fact it will only work 1 in evry 5-8 games at best.
BUT
To change it up would involve Ratten being decisive and making a move...................so we can look forward to the exact same set up next week!!!!!!

I'm not a Yarran fan.

In a Hawks side he'd be effective because there'd be plenty of easy ball for him to run onto.

But with our limp dicks he has to work too hard, something he's not capable of.

Garletts got plenty of heart but he's a stick, a stick with heart, but a stick. He'll come good but agin only if the overall team improves.

Eddie, well he's shown he's got plenty and has been through the dark days and busted a gut but he'll drop off the pace with everyone else.

These three guys are icing, not cake. They finish things and react to a team thats up and working. They reflect the work ethic and courage of the rest of the team, they dont determine it.

Lets take a minute to see what wins flags

1. Forward pocket approx 185-190 cm, able to lead
2. Full Forward, approx 190 cm, able to lead, more than once
3, Small Forward, able to read the ball and tackle.
4. Half Forward Flank able to mark overhead and can provide some tricks
5, Centre Half Forward, able to mark kick and bust a pack
6. Half Forward Flank able to play in the middle.

We have a FP in Betts and developing CHF in Henderson.

Best setup IMHO

Betts - Must stay inside 50 at drop of the ball

Irish - Must stay inside 50 and offer leads

Henderson

Gibbs - Play defensively

Waite - Must stay forward

Houlihan -

I know one thing, I am sick and tired of watching our front runners kicking it high to Betts and expecting him to win it in the air!!! He has become our only focus when we go forward and now is even getting double teamed by the opposition because of this.

Stop doing your husband's job badly, MC.

Two, we could live with, but all three will not work long term.

Long term Yaz will be carving them up off half back.

Exactly !!!!!!

Since half way through this season, I have noticed that players are bombing the ball high into
our forward 50. What ever has happened to passing to the leading forward.

Is it because our forwards aren't leading or is it our midfield not waiting for the lead. If Fev was still here he would have
demanded the ball out in front of him, and if you didn't, you would sure hear about it.

Its time for someone to step up, and demand for the ball to be delivered lace out, in front, then watch the three amigos
come into play.

And the Great Southern Stand side of our home ground will be the Jeff Garlett Wing.

Yeah, well, so be it, but I think that three goal sneaks who only play in bursts will be found wanting.

Really?

Why Bother?

They'll just be playing in the backline after 15min anyway.

Seriously, whacking Fevola / Brown / Pavlich and Riewoldt down there wont do shit unless you have some kind of set up.

Setanta, Henderson, Waite, Betts, Yazz, Gartlett, and Bower & Thornton have all been tried up forward........... all have failed or have proved inconsistent.

BUT - all have talent and potential.

They're just not being used right.
