Many of us thought and stated the same after Grigga's comeback game. Let the guy settle in and you may be surprised, BR. I thought he did a pretty respectable job on Priddis, FWIW.

Grigg was hopeless in that first game, and was deservedly dropped. Perhaps they're both getting a taste, being put back in the VFL with an idea of what they need to work on; one of those lessons where words aren't enough.

Great post jimmae

No one is saying that Ellard and Grigg's career was over after they were dropped. There's 5 more rounds to go.
This week Fish gets closer to the 100 in a game we're expected to lose. Then he may get dropped if we get smacked.
Then one more probably against Cats in a few weeks ....and Fish gets to 100. ...and we say than you Mr Fisher.
Name on locker. Celebration. Carlton story. It's a great story.

I'd rather be in Grigg's and Ellards' boots than Fisher's in terms of footy life left. That's just my opinion.

Really looking forward to the Blues giving it their best shot; to see where they stand in season 2010.
A win and everything changes for everything Bluebagger.
A loss....well that's expected, and we have games against Tigers & Bumbers to shore up our spot in the finals.

Go Blues. Cheers

Wayne Johnston would be handy.....he went up 10 gears against C/wood.

This is the thing......the hatred among these kids for the Pies is not there.

It would be great for Fisher to make 100 games. IMO all good clubmen deserve a milestone if it's within reach

geez Warby, maybe we need to put on a little pantomime, and act it out for them.

First thing that comes to mind for me is potential father-sons in the future. Give him the games he needs, it may pay dividends 20yrs down the track

Like it.

Mind you, he's not as bad as MM. Did you see his big mid-week press conference where
he reckons Cloke might not make the team? Nice one Mick - really fooled our MC that one.
What a tosser.

I don't mind if he goes in and out of the team a bit as he finds he feet, but I hope we give him a good chance in the seniors. I've heard the too small, too slow criticism, but if he's a consistent performer in the VFL then he's got something.

Being originally a Bendigo boy I remember very well Greg Williams winning a league B&F in the then BFL. Tried out at Carlton ... "too small, too slow". Back to the BFL the next year, another league B&F. Carlton still not impressed so Geelong give him a go. Now I'm not saying Ellard is in his class, but we won't know for sure how good he could be unless we give him a good run, even if it's interspersed with VFL games.

That would have been a pretty good idea several rounds ago. But there is not much of the season left now before the finals and unless he gets a decent chance, you'd have to say he will be let go. Players get their papers stamped often enough, but if they have really put the hard yards in and then been BOG or near there most of the season, you'd expect them to have at least a reasonable shot at the real thing. Just the one game though, and it'd be fair enough to feel a bit aggrieved.

Tonight is showing that if we play attacking play on at all costs footy when you are expected to get belted, the unexpected may happen.

Fishers inclusion will prove to be a masterstroke tomorrow. He will kick 4-5 and Carlton will win by 29 points

He was pretty ordinary with ball in hand granted, but IIRC laid 9 tackles and his direct opponent on the night, who happens to be their current number 1 midfielder with Kerr out, had very little influence on the match. I'd say if we were offered that going into the game we would have taken it, in other words I think he did his job. Remember it was his first AFL game for 2 years as well and it's a fair step up from the Bullants. I know people are comparing him to Grigg in that they were both dropped after their first game back, but Grigg (who I have high hopes for btw) was truly awful in that Lions game. I don't think Ellard was last week. Long term he may not make it, but we have a lot of front-running softc@#$s in our team and I think he offers something that may not be as glamorous but is definitely more team oriented than some even though he may not rack up the stats (Hi Carrots).

I would have kept Ellard and dropped AJ. I though Ellards concentration was magnificent on a real inside, grunt player which are the hardest to tag.
With Presti out, it's even more reason to play Hammer up forward. The main thing is to make Maxwell accountable.
