Ratts used fish in this way against Dustin Fletcher last year and he was happy with his job.

You mean he's a 'red herring'? It kind of makes sense as the matchup is really forming a Scandinavian edge to to it...With Collingwood's two Danes in very good form, we counter that with Princess Mary of Denmark who is of course a royal bluebagger - and then select Fish, playing a red herring role, which has been for centuries a staple of the Swedish cuisine. Added bonus is that Fish had the LARS surgery - Lars being the second most popular male name in Sweden. Like the Carlton-Collingwood rivalry, Denmark-Sweden relations have a very long history. There have been 11 Dano-Swedish wars between 1521 and 1814, the most famous of course being the Great Northern War....The Great Northern also being a pub in...Carlton North...home of the Carlton Football Club....enough said.

...Blues by 17.

Lovin' your work Doc, all those Danish references bring a tear to the eye. I was having a cuppa with Mazzy a few days ago and she said that she was pretty confident about this game. She thought we had a good chance and actually almost used your argument word for word. So Doc, you think like a princess.

Actually, when I saw that Fish was selected I could just imagine the last of any reservations Collingwood may have had about this game disappearing. With our shocking disposal into the forward line and Fish's ability to keep his feet preventing him from any second efforts, the Collingwood half back line must be jumping for joy. Talk about goals from turnovers. Our midfield will be buggered before quarter time from chasing rebounding balls from the half backline. I can imagine Collingwoods plan will be let us win the clearance out of the center and as we all push forward, just drop back of the contest in readiness for the ball to go the other way. Wait for the kick into the forward line to sail over the head of a diving fish, pick it up and Whoopti, loose men all down both sides of the ground. Which in turn will have all of us supporters calling for backmen like Russell, Walker, Bower and Jamo to be sacked traded or drawn and quartered.

Love to see us beat the pies, but I just got no idea how our current team will do it. I definitely do not think the inclusion of Fish will add anything to the contest. Mind you, I would really love to have to eat these words on Saturday afternoon.

It was more like a female mud-wrestling competition.

As expected with the Danes and the Swedes......it was such a success, they had 10 more!

speed, mobility and Fisher in the same sentance. I'm confused.

Tongue firmly planted in cheek.

Don't want Yarran or Army to miss. Want Ellard to get a game, but it will be a shame if they have to miss.

ahaa... my bad.

hard to tell around here sometimes though.

seriously, i love the fish.
But he's flaws are obvious and plentiful. The game has past him by IMO. The suns might come hunting if he's very very lucky.

For his sake I hope he gets his name on the locker.

I remember when he came in for his first game last year and he kicked 3 or 4.

He will need atleast 4 to break even with his lack of run and defence unless he manages to drag his man out of the play entirely.

I dont think Collingwood are being coached by John Hewson.

Tell us what you know of John Hewson Agro Jnr.

In your own words, given that you were barely born when he was leader of the Coalition.

For what it's worth, many years ago while having a kick with Agro Jnr at half time at the MCG, the young fella (much younger i.e. maybe 9 or 10 at the time) asked me whether I thought Adrian Gleeson was stiff to miss out on the GF side in 1995.

When I did the sums and realized he'd been barely born when the GF was on I ended the discussion; he had started putting up a reasonable case supporting his argument which had really started to freak me out (especially when he didn't miss a beat when I brought up Troy Bond)!

A taller player was also going to be required to come in for this game and with that inclusion it gives the team a bit of flexibility to swing Henderson and Waite back or forward depending on how the game is going. Fish is playing for his footy life and yes he has his faults but he has been a good servant for the club and has never had the opportunity to play in a forward line without Fev.
Good luck tomorrow Fish because I know you will be giving it your best shot.

THE GIG

1/ Arrive early and tune up.

2/Note: Don't forget to check that you are also in tune with the rest of the band.

3/Warm up

4/Run through set list

5/ Make sure you are switched on and ready to play. Remember that the audience has payed good money to see you at your best, and they want to fully enjoy their experience. Never forget who enables you to get paid for doing what you love.

6/ You want the Top Gig. Right now, you are the support act, and the only way to take over as the main act, is to play like this is your last gig, and leave nothing behind.
If you believe your band is the greatest around, then show every one, while still respecting the current top band.

7/Leave 'em wanting more.

8/ Leave the Top band shaken to the core, respecting the rising star, and wondering how much longer they will remain at the top.

9/ Finally, always remember lads, that your amps go all the way to eleven.

I have a gut feeling that Jordan Russell will be close to BOG tomorrow. I can just see him taking some gutsy marks, setting the tone and taking the game on.

Just got given free tickets through a contact at work for tomorrow's game. There for the bloody Magpie clup Coterie group!! :banghead:

Will be very painful sitting through a game with a room full of one eyed magpie supporters.

Hopefully the free drink will dull the pain a little.

Go Blues!!!

Keep your chin up, your chest out and your wallet in the front pocket of your pants.

It's the perfect day, they'll be so smug and friendly because they expect to win they'll take condescension to a new level. We shouldn't win, they think we cant win but we are 22 the same as them.

Could be the best day of the year.

Do any of the posters making the big statements like "Ellard will come in for Armfield/Yarran" actually know anything? If not, perhaps you might like to preface your posts with something like "I think" or "I'd like" so that they're not confused with posts from people who have inside knowledge.
