Ellard ... unlucky ... agree.
Fish ... all the best, but please kick straight ... agree.

Not convinced about the wisdom of going tall when it's forecast to be W&W,
BUT : hats off to the MC for trying something. Many of us, myself included, have been
whinging about how often we're going for small targets in the forward line. So put more
big targets up there! It lets Waite play off half back too which I prefer.

Surely Armfield would be the one to be a late withdrawal? I'm no expert but last week's massive knock and resulting neck/spinal issues is surely not worth risking?

THe BIG NEWS is that Armfield is in good health
I'm sure we're all rapt.

Yes I am surprised at the ommission and the replacement.

Yes I wrote off Brad Fisher after the round 22 2008 game against the Hawks...then they went on to win the Flag.
The slow Brad Fisher, Wiggins, Cloke, Ackland and Saddington were definetely not what we wanted to compete against top 8 teams.
In that case it showed what we had to discard to compete against the best team (Premier). Now Fisher's back.

But, in the preseason against Swans in Blacktown I must admit, I watched Fisher play like a man obsessed.
Now, don't take this as gospel, but he looked fast compared to most other Carlton players that night.
I thought it must have been because the other players were sluggish in humid conditions.
I haven't seen Fish play in the Bullants, but I've heard and I've read he's presented very well.
Instead of kicking his 10.19 (and prob 5-6 OBOF) a good kick would have dobbed 22.10.
What a waste. Undisputedly a great mark. Long reach and very good timing is his trick.
But for a rainy day? :? Anyone know more on what the weather will be?

I'd like to see the Fish play 2 games in a row to reach 100. It's a good footy story; and it's a Carlton one.
CHF is a good spot for him. He had his name written all over that spot in the preseason imo. We had a few out suspended and injured at the time.
Hendo picked as the lead up, or big body in the square, when the Hammer isn't presenting that role.
They have 3 talls minding our 3 Tall fwds. Jolly vs Warnock is the main ruck battle and Brown vs Hammer the other. Nil all draw.

They have 2 talls in their forwadline and we have 3 tall backmen.
That's good imo because it makes it easier to swing Waite.

I'd rather them play through Cloke as their tall rather than having that Menace Lockyer playing.
Cloke will lead long out on the wings. I think Bower is a waste playing out there on Cloke.
Cloke wouldn't want to lead Waite into the centre line because it would invite Waite to hunt the goal.

They're a good team. Carlton has the midfield to beat the Pies though. That's our strength.
Slippery conditions will bring them back to our level rather than the other way around.

That's where we we'll win it.
I'm sure we'll keep up with the fitness levels, it's the intensity for longer periods where they tried to stretch teams.

Having seen the line ups, I'm happy and more optomistic than I was this arvo.

Good backline. I don't mind Carrots and Joseph at HB with the pace of Armfield and Grigg in the wings.

We might win. I reckon. Yes we will.

So if it's Ellard for Armfield, will we see Davies for Yarran?

Ratts used fish in this way against Dustin Fletcher last year and he was happy with his job.

Really worried about Maxwell, O'Brien or Goldsack running off Fish at will!

That's the thing I don't understand. The filth love to run, especially out of back line and we bring in a guy who is slow and cannot keep his feet. We should use a running game to give us a sliver of a chance. I did not see anything special from fish in the bull ants last week, same deal falling over all the time.

Don't get the mc's thinking on this one.

This smells of Ellard in for either Army/Yarran (if those "illness" rumours are correct).

After being at Subi last week I just can't see how Army will get up, TBH. Very, very dangerous territory playing him.

I'm with Jimmae, can see Waite and Walks swapping roles this week - like having Walks as an aggressive defensive fwd, gives us an X Factor.

Good luck Fish, I'm one of plenty around here who want to proved wrong, and what a game to do it in.

You mean he's a 'red herring'? It kind of makes sense as the matchup is really forming a Scandinavian edge to to it...With Collingwood's two Danes in very good form, we counter that with Princess Mary of Denmark who is of course a royal bluebagger - and then select Fish, playing a red herring role, which has been for centuries a staple of the Swedish cuisine. Added bonus is that Fish had the LARS surgery - Lars being the second most popular male name in Sweden. Like the Carlton-Collingwood rivalry, Denmark-Sweden relations have a very long history. There have been 11 Dano-Swedish wars between 1521 and 1814, the most famous of course being the Great Northern War....The Great Northern also being a pub in...Carlton North...home of the Carlton Football Club....enough said.

...Blues by 17.

I tend to agree that Ellard will come in for Army........He might just take the opportunity with both hands this time round. (not that he didn't try against the eagles, he just turned it over too much)..

Please let the Yazz rumours be untrue... Didn't he miss our last game against the pies?? :banghead: :banghead:

Inject him with cows blood!!

Was there a Swedo–Danish War?
