Why was Lockyer dropped??
He kills us!

I think that's a win for us, despite Mick spouting off about team selection tactics to nullify Carlton.
No Heath Shaw either!

If Cloke has a dog day, and we manage to get some quick balls out of centre to Hammer, look out!!

I am starting to get a tiny bit of confidence up....
Would LOVE to pinch this and get the butterflies out of the stomach.

Go Blues!

Maybe it was Ellard and Carrazzo vying for the one role with Carrazzo being a 'senior player' getting the nod. Very unfortunate for Ellard.

Happy to see Fish come back from the Lars. Great effort.

..Ellard was ok last week, but was surprised he was actually selected.. ..not surprised in the least that he's dropped.. ..writing's been on the wall for him all year..

..IF the Fish is kept within 30m of the goalsquare, with instruction that 2 crumbers will always be in his vicinity, then i believe he could be an asset.. ..defenders these days are more used to 'team defense', and some aren't as good as they ought to be one on one, i think if we can isolate the Fish and give him good delivery then he'll certainly kick a few..

..i've always prefered Waite up fwd, but he's far too stupidly aggressive up fwd this year.. ..i like the idea of swapping him with Walks..

..Army??, is he really ok to play..?..

The MC want to try another tall on the team. Gives us the chance to use Waite in a number of different ways. Someone had to make room. One of Carazzo, AJ, Armfield or Ellard. Carazzo hasnt set the world on fire but i dont think this is the week to drop him, AJ hasnt set the world on fire but i liked some of his link up play last week in the first half and doesnt have a bad record against the pies, Armfield wouldnt drop but possibly wont play due to injury. THat leaves Ellard. Did a good tagging job but turned it over badly. If these errors were due to nerves i am not sure the MCG in front of 80000 is going to be any easier.

I would have been happy with no change but can see that the MC are trying a different mix. Possibly a third man up scenario in the back 50. A tactic that has not been used by the blues for a while.

Ellard in for Armfield or any other sick or injured player is also a possibility.

damn i'm angry.

are we going to play ellard for one game every 3 years!

lets bring in a tall with poor ball skills when the balls on the deck, who can't apply any defensive pressure into a game where it's going to be wet and windy.

thats just shithouse.

our MC is !@#$%&

THIS.

However can't help but think that Ellard will be a late inclusion, perhaps the Yarran rumour is true. I hope not.

If Ellard doesn't play, I question why we gave him a game at all.

ellard's first game this year was much better than grigg's, yet grigga got a few weeks to settle in. Why wouldn't the same apply?? give the kid a chance, its extremely hard to come from 2-3 years of regular vfl level footy and slot straight into the afl and dominate. anyway......GO BLUES

Nah, Grigg got the same treatment. Played (not great) and then dropped for a game and came back pretty strongly.

Ellard very unlucky. Not really sure what the long term plan for him is if he only gets to play West Coast in Subi once every three years and that's it.

Fish has been consistent with The Ants and has kicked a few lately, plus he's apparently been stellar in his work ethic and getting himself right post LARS. His set shots still concern me though, despite his 18 in five games or whatever. From what I've seen, I reckon he may have even kicked more points than goals over that timeframe. Anyway, having said that, I've liked The Fish over the years, and all the very best to him for the game. I hope he kicks a bag, plays his role, and holds his spot if he deserves it. It's a great story.

Go Blues!

Double yep

Fish deserves his chance and allows for Waite to play a switching role.

Go Baggers...

Just give us the flower (Peter Mac) Cup already...

...disappointed for Davey as I thought he could have done a job on Ball, but that's footy.

I think it'll be a close match. Hats off to the match committee for playing Fish. We need to get him a couple more games for his 100. I reckon had our 1975 MC played Wayne Deledio a bit more and the 1973/74 MC played Billy Swan, then we'd win this one by 10 goals.

Yes, I feel the same as many other posters. Very dissapointed that David Ellard had been dropped after only one game. Would have thought he was just the type of hard at it player that we need against Collingwood, particularely if it is a wet track.
Given his performances at the Bullants, believe he deserves at least 3-4 games in a row.

Don't mind Fish coming in... he'll be desperate as hell.

Collingwood will know that we'll honour him if he's presenting, it could be a ploy to try and drag them out of their zone in the back six.

If Waite is forward, that gives us Waite, Hendo and Fisher, all of whom can take a grab one on one.

To me this move looks more to create discomfort for them than anything else.

There's got to be a doubt on Armfield, so maybe Ellard slips back in for him. Would be harsh to drop him after a win in his first game. That shit might fly at Windy Hill but we shouldn't be doing it at Visy park, unless he was egregiously bad, which he wasn't.

..cos Grigg's got the green light, and Ellard's stuck with the red.. .... ..Ellard only got a game, cos there was no-one else.. ..got him back as a rookie this year cos they were still a bit undecided, but team selections this year have pretty much made their stance known..
