Fisher is an interesting one. Do we play him across the half forward line where he can take the marks and provide a link to go forward? His kicking often lets him down and we can't afford poor delivery into the forward line. Or do we play him very deep, in the goalsquare, where he can take the grabs and have some relatively easy shots on goal?

I like Fish, but he is going to have any relatively easy shots on goal then he'd better be very very deep.

Odds favour the Pies.
But I think we are capable, at our best.

If we are up at 1/4 time, we'll win.
In fact, I reckon, if we are within 1goal at 1/4 time, we'll win...

We need to withstand their pressure early and then develop the belief that we can win.
Last time, they smashed us but we let them get off to a flyer and then smashed them for periods at a time (Setanta might even come back b/c of how he played last time?) before we ran out of puff and they smashed us back.

I was definitely referring to your father. It's becoming more and more apparent his commentary is filtering into your posts.

If he wants to sit down and have a say, nothing more than his pride is stopping him from logging into his own account.

Sorry if my opinions closely match that of my father could it be because I have lived at home for 17 years, gone to the football with my father for 13 years followed Carlton all my life that there is a slight possibility that my opinions about Carlton may closely match that of my fathers its not like he is Darth Vader and I am Luke Skywalker.

There are a lot of things I disagree with my father on for example on the time I can come home on a Friday or Saturday Night in particular.

With regards to Carlton I firmly disagreed with the trade for Brock McLean yet my dad thinks we should at least wait another season before passing judgement, Dad wants to trade Jarrad Waite because he thinks he is plays dumb and undisciplined football yet I think we would be crazy to trade him. On the other hand we both agree that Brett Ratten is not the coach we need to take Carlton forward. We both loved Brett Ratten as a great player of the club but its not a crime that he cant coach plenty great players of the game have proven they cant coach Tim Watson being a recent example.

Jimmae if you have a problem with MY opinions fine just bear in mind that my opinions are based on a lot of things (as are everyone elses).

My dad and I always have a robust discussions about a lot of things and if I don’t agree with some things I tell him, if we agree on certain things I am not embarrassed to say so.

So if you have a problem with that then bad luck for you, maybe you should address your own “dad” issues first.

Dad issues or not I am fully expecting a thrashing so losing by anything less than 6 goals will be a plus for me.

wow....fish!

is anyone else a little surprised with this one? IMO all he offers is a great pair of hands. Lets hope he realises he needs to put in a big one to extend his stay in the 1's

are we going to play ellard for one game every 3 years!

lets bring in a tall with poor ball skills when the balls on the deck, who can't apply any defensive pressure into a game where it's going to be wet and windy.

thats just shithouse.

our MC is [REDACTED]

Disappointed for Ellard as I believe he did his job last week. Any chance of a late change? Ellard for Armfield perhaps?

Christ.

On the one hand, Fisher has proven himself to be unable to step up to the challenge of senior football for a long time, while on the other his pre-season touch (not pace, touch) was very good and he has done nothing but put up good numbers since returning from injury. If anyone deserved a chance up forward, it was always going to be Fish.

Personally I think it unbalances us, but we may actually swing Waite back and Walker forward to play a defensive role, so we'll need a second marking option in those circumstances.

I would have said our worst players last week were Russell, Ellard, Garlett, Jamison, Walker & Gibbs, but Jeff was probably always likely to be in need of a bit of coaching, the MC don't like relieving Russell or Jamison, Gibbs is way too good to be sin-binned in the VFL and Walker even at his worst runs all day and throws a spanner in the works for the opposition. That leaves Ellard unfortunately.

Would have preferred no change.

I get that we wanted to bring in another marking target, but Ellard is stiff.

Last chance for Fisher.

No Hoops again :?

kicked multiple goals in every game in the ants since he got back from injury including several bags of 4. We have lacked a tall forward that can consistently hit the scoreboard. Deserves his chance in the team

I tend to agree. Very dissapointing to see a newbie get the flick after one game.

I understand the reasoning for brining Fish in but he could be a massive weak link for us. Lets hope he or someone is used defensively against Maxwell and OBrien. These guys (and not only these guys) can completely ruin our day by running amok and leaving our less mobile forward gasping for air. Both Fish and Hendo have tank issues.

God help us if it rains much.

If I see Maxwell float around taking grab after grab buy just reading the play I'll get on a plane and slap Ratts myself.

Would have thought Ellard was the perfect match up for Ball, who really hurt us last time around. Very stiff.

Bloody hell. Ellard dropped! After one game yet again. What was the point of putting him in at all if you just do that. He took a bit of time to adjust and get over the nerves or whatever, but he wasn't alone in having a poor first half at all. And his second half was good. Did a great job on Priddis.

The MC just loves to screw him over I guess. Damn annoying, and no doubt pretty shattering for David. Finally, finally gets a game and is then dumped after one. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I guess they thought they needed that extra speed and mobility Fisher provides, and knew that we wouldn't have to worry about the Pies run through the midfield. :donk:
