i am loving all the positive press the pies are getting this week.. From what i have been hearing in the papers we might as well hand them the 2010 Premiership and begin the 2011 season early..FFS even Leigh Brown has become an All-Australian candidate!!

As we know all too well, this is the time that teams suffer let downs and are rolled..

Fisher is an interesting one. Do we play him across the half forward line where he can take the marks and provide a link to go forward? His kicking often lets him down and we can't afford poor delivery into the forward line. Or do we play him very deep, in the goalsquare, where he can take the grabs and have some relatively easy shots on goal?

Great. Like for like. :screwy:

Fish plays and the ball will stream out of the forward line like water through a sieve.

IF Yarran is out (which I doubt, given he'd have to be pretty damn sick for a BF poster to know about it already (ie.most likely based on info from Wed) and yet be sure he will not recover in time for Sat.
But, IF he is out, there are others I'd bring in ahead of Fisher, such as Houlihan, Touhy, Browne or Setanta who I think adds more to the team. Fisher played a very average game in the Bullants last week. So did Setanta but at least Setanta gets to more contests, offers defensive value and can kick as well as mark.

IF Fisher is named, against my express wishes(!!), I would plant him in the goalsquare, put a bib on him that says GA or whatever the other netball letters are for NOT ALLOWED OUTSIDE 50!

If Fisher is named and kicks 4-5goals, please disregard the above....

He'd be GS not GA 17th. GA's get to roam around a bit, that would be Hendo.

GS/Goal Shooter ;)

If Yarran was ill and had something like the flu or gastro he may be "better" by Saturday but still weak and lethargic.

I agree it seems like an odd choice as they are chalk and cheese really but still just conjecture at this stage. Here's the original post FYI
http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showpost. ... tcount=287 Note the amount of Collingwood trolls butting in...

Get Fish to knee cap every Colonwood player. Then we should win! I like the new game plan.

Fish gets to 100, and we get a win.

Next week, Wiggo comes in to do the same against the Scum.

That's the real issue with the Fish imo. Moreso than his kicking.
You have to be able to defend against this Collingwood team. I'm convinced Fish can't do that at AFL standard.

I'm just hoping we have marking targets in the forwardline because I believe the midfield can deliver against the Pies' mids.
That's where Fish may just excel.

If Fisher plays he'll need to mark everything that comes his way as he simply doesn't have the leg speed to provide the defensive pressure that will be needed in the forward line.

He's a good mark, but I'm not sure how he'll go with marking on a wet and windy track.

Forecast is wind and rain for Saturday arvo....in Melbourne.

speaking of tagger.. Does anyone else think that Joseph deserves a free run in the middle? We know he has the tank, his skills are improving and he is awesome at breaking tackles.

I also loved seeing Garlett in the centre bounces. He got a few clearances against WC and looked dangerous.

This is the game to try these things, we have nothing to lose.

not !

+1 Recently, he's been constantly running himself into trouble and getting caught with it.

Rumour that Yarran is out ill and replaced by Fisher (on a wet track) :screwy:

I'll wait till that news is made official.

I'll have a go at this week's line up:

OUT: Armfield (rested)
IN: (one of) Houlihan Robinson Hadley

B: Joseph Jamison Walker
HB: Russell Bower Scotland
C: Grigg Judd Simpson
HF: Yarran Henderson Waite
F: Garlett Hampson Betts

FOLL: Warnock Murphy Gibbs

IC: (from) Houlihan Ellard Robinson Hadley Johnson Carrazzo

I wouldn't be adding any more talls if there's rain.

Go Blues.

Collingwood is the form team and deservedly the top of the ladder whilst we've been struggling for a while.
Given our desperate and intense display in the 2nd half against the bottom team last week to come out winners by 26 after trailiing by 26 at half time, we may have turned the corner.

Carlton win possibly by 5 points (I must admit I'm wearing my rose coloured glasses)
Anything can happen...and I doubt there will be a repeat of the last time we played them with Ball, Thomas, Dawes Wellingham kicking 3 goals each.

JUDD

Interesting if nothing else that this is a Red Cross promo (on the carlton/collingwood rivalry). I wouldn't be taking blood from any of these folk. No blood in my alcohol officer!
