If I was a betting man I would put money on us losing this week...........However I just get the feeling that we may pull a rabbit out of our arse this weekend.

Well, i've won over $500 this year betting against Carlton............ and those are in games where we were favourites!
(Freo / North / Essendon* / Hawthorn)

So................
Wanna know who i'll be betting on this week...............

YUP - You guessed it..............

COLLINGWOOD!

Seriously though, I bet against Carlton because we have been much to obvious and predictable. It's (as the saying goes) 'Easy Money'.

Argue with me all you want, but the proof is in my wallet! :-)

Collingwood this week is gonna be tough because they are an incredibly well-drilled unit. HOWEVER that doesn't mean I don't think we can't win. I fully believe that we have the players and potential to be a better side than the Pies. Honestly I do. But we don't have the mindset, nor the discipline, nor the belief, nor the BALLS to stand up and do it!

All i'm hoping for this weekend is 4 qtrs of what we saw in 1 qtr on last saturday night................... Some god-damn intensity & respect for this club!

It's going to be tough. We are pretty much playing near our worst for the year and the Pies are playing like they could walk on water if asked.

If we don't hold our tackles this game is going to be very ugly. Very ugly.

We require every player to show ruthless aggression when tackling.

i don't profress to understand tactics when it comes to footy, but i reckon we play better when we play like you should in the wet.

Be desperate, get your head over the footy and just force it forward anyway possible.

any time we win a center clerance and force it forward quickly more often than not we generate a score.

second half against the eagles we just banged it on the boot anfd surged it forward rugby style.

other clubs have worked us out i reckon in the way they zone off us but if we generate good meterage on the clearance we seem to have a good chance of a score from a 50/50 contest.

i hope it pisses down on saturday as it will force us to play this way for 4 qtrs.

and ellard is just what we need right now even if he has a limited game and potential carrer.

I hope he does well and takes his chance.

good to see grigg hit some form too.

a bit of confidence and he could be that play we've all been waiting for.

we can beat this mob, just gotta start on the front foot and plant some seeds of doubt.

So how much did you lose against the Eagles? Since we were fav's.

Most betting people only talk about their wins...

I think we are much better when we're given no hope of winning.

Knowing us we'll pull a rabbit out of a hat this week and then go down without a whimper to the Bummers.

Been thinking this also. We're just as likely to perform very well against the Pies and Cats, maybe even pinch a win in one of the games, but get smashed by the Tiges and Bombers. Freo will be a draw

It will be a good effort to get within 6 goals of the Pies.

Does Ellard have the tank to go with Swan? He had a pretty amazing negating game on Sunday against a major ball winner. If we can stop Swan, Pendalberry I think we'll go a lot closer than I did a week ago. Still can't see us getting within 10 goals of the pies based on our respective form at the moment, but form changes from week to week at the moment so who knows. I hope that I am wrong.

Anyway, if our bottom-tiered players stand up again and we put a good contest then I will be pretty pleased.

This is my issue, them playing ellard as a tagger is stupid, he's dominated collecting possies and creatin play in the Ants and gets brought in to tag, why? i dont think we can play joseph, ellard & carrots in the same team, all play the taggin role at present with minimal impact with their own disposal.
id like to see joseph dropped but i think he is the best for swan as he is desceptively quick.

Also they will bring in cloke this week, most likely playing three talls, all fairly built so i doubt we could play walks on one....
I dont want to see Waite thrown around like last week so we may need to bring in thornton or setants for a KPD(unfortunately).

Wouldn mind seein Yarran runnin off HB, Harbrow style....great pace, great disposal and it will get him into the game more.....on Davis...
Fisher may be needed also, doubt we can rely on Hammer as our primary target, Fish in a pocket might be handy and it will give us an idea whether to renew his contract.

Put $100 down to win $12 sounds pretty smart to me.

Ratts : "“Setanta, Brad Fisher - their form in the VFL has been pretty good, pretty solid. I think Fisher has kicked close to 18 goals in five weeks so he’s getting around that three to four goals each week there.”

Fisher's form over five weeks ... fair enough, but where is he getting information from that says Setanta has been good in the 2's? Not the TC site that's for sure. From what I've read here about his two games he has been largely a noncontributor.

Sorry, what I should have said was that my total winnings are $500......

I've lost on Melbourne and Richmond.

I've been told I should whack that $500 on collingwood to win which would give me about $700 but I hate betting big like that. But I might whack $100 on the pies if I can find odds of around $1.80 or so.

And if Carlton win and I loose $100????? Hell I'd be wrapped!

So I can't loose! :-)

Paris Hilton will find her hymen before you find $1.80 for the pies.

They're fine. Why? Because all three can read the play. Besides, Joseph is currently in defence, Ellard takes the ball winner, Carrazzo takes a half-back or other ball carrier. Suits all their strengths well.

Ellard is playing a tagging role because he doesn't have the ability to impact a game with his frame at this level like he does in the VFL, so we sit him in amongst it and see if he can develop something usable. Decent hands, average pace, below average size, average skills, good endurance; can't really play anywhere but the midfield. Just needs to play on his toes because he will effectively be a plodder if he doesn't react quicker than most.

He's better than a plodder, but I don't really like him as a tagger. Did well against Priddis, but Priddis is SLOW, predictable and very one sided. Swan is none of those things. If you watch the replay he was not a natural tagger either, more just kinda "in the same space" as Priddis.

I'm not sold on AJ as a great footy brain so I think the natural people for the job are Carrots and AJ and told to just stick to them like glue and don't worry about getting a possesion. They both have the tank to do it for 4/4.

Ellard should be rotated through the guts, hif he plays at all. He may be fit but he may also struggle with second week blues since it was only his second game in three season.
