I was very excited when I was reading this until I saw the last comment of this article.

He is not expected to return to Carlton.

Perhaps he'll do the unexpected.

He may not be interested in coaching.
Time will tell if he intends to form a ticket - not necessarily to become the Prez.
One could reasonably imagine that his interest lies more in what sort of Carlton his sons might one day play for.

He is still a bit of a Carlton man..

He was at the Pre-season practice game vs. Adelaide at visy park w/ his kids.. and I can't imagine it would have been a St Kilda gig.

All very interesting. Both Tony and SOS are highly regarded coaches and both leaving in a short space in time does raise eyebrows.

Am very keen to see where SOS ends up.

I doubt Stephen will be involved anywhere at club level in the immediate future. If he is to stay involved in footy, then I think an AFL ambassadorial role is a distinct possibility.

Agree.

Fact is, he's not a coach's arsehole. He might be OK in a one-on-one (having the Full Back of the Century telling the fragile defenders they're 'doing great' and 'it will come' can do wonders), but structure-wise he's a vacuous entity.

That seems odd ... he has been lauded by all sections of the media. Gets credited with StKilda's mean defense. HMMM. Would not mind him doing the same job at Carlton (even tho I know this won't happen).

The Hun has reported that he is heading to GWS as list manager, perhaps he has found that coaching is not his cup of tea and football administration might be a better career choice.

Alarm bells! We now need to consider young Jack (who has a very solid footballing home at Greythorn), Ben and Tom relocating from Melbourne to a non-football state... which junior team will Jack join, will this harm his development etc?
