But remember,

We are the NAVY BLUES!

What about the option of going for the heritage jumper circa 1897 to 1907. Half navy blue, half yellow with the white insignia?

I just meant the jumper but maybe throw in the pants as well.

Yeah, sure, they look fine.

But what if the 2010/11 Grand Final is Carlton vs St Kilda.

And we lose the midweek toss-of-the-coin on 'home colours'.

And we win our next Grand Final in white jumpers. How'd you like that forever captured on camera... the old white's parading the cup around the MCG?

It's unthinkable to me.

So you'd rather we lost the flag - to St Kilda - but wearing Navy Blue would somehow make the loss better?

I reckon I could handle having #17 forever captured on camera white white guernseys, especially if we beat St Kilda, haha. I'd be happy to wear pink and orange hoops, couldn't care less. The jumper is important, don't get me wrong, but it's not the reason I support the club.

It's what's inside the jumper that counts.

Whaaaaaa???? Who said anything about being happy to lose a granny in navy blue???

I think I'd rather us win the flag in our proper jumpers. Wouldn't you?

I just want us to win #17 and beyond. Doing so in our preferred navy jumpers would be great, but it would make no real difference to me if we won a few wearing white.

We could win in our birthday suits for all I care.

That said, on the odd occasion, I don't mind the whites.

To my reckoning, those games would be Melbourne away and the Eagles away. In any other game the shorts should provide more than enough contrast.

i don't think I'd care much either. Somehow I think common sense would prevail and the clubs would both wear their traditional jumpers in a grannie.

Didn't seem to hurt Spain much that they didn't wear the red shirt in the WC final. They had them on for the presentation though

Personally I like the white, with Navy blue stripe. IIRC it was one of the designs suggested back in the TBV days.

I think that the white jumpers stand out much more than the navy blue. Maybe when the opposition looks up and sees all the white jumpers ahead of them it would seem that there are more players there than what there actually is.

Looking on the TV when you saw 2 or 3 players around the ball we look to have outnumbered them much more than when we are wearing blue. I don't mind the white strip now and again and it wouldn't fuss me if we wore it more often, so long as its not in finals of rivals games (tiges, pies & bummers)

I reckon the navy blue is the best jumper in the competition.
the white is the best alternative strip in the competition.
and the white it is still better than all but 2 or 3 of the other clubs home strips (Coll, Geel come to mind...).
Spain won the World Cup in their alternative strip (& then put on their home strips for the presentation)

Up until recently, many premiership players would receive their medallions in the opposition jumpers!!
I think the home team should wear the home strip. The away team should wear the away strip if there's a clash (or even as a matter of course).

I'm more concerned with our insipid performances over the past 2 months than the jumper!

Long time reader, first time poster.

Agree with all of this, it just forgot to mention the best one-off jumper (last year's yellow) in the league as well.

I think the white clash strip is the one positive, proactive thing to come from Smorgon's presidency. I'm glad we did it properly, rather than the stinker that Essendon* runs around in.
