Ratten said at H/T told players to kick more than handball to get some distance
Thought Warnock was outstanding played a great game for the club.
Carlton 12th in the number of 100 game players, and sitting in the eight.
He thinks the club is where they expected it to be, as long as they keep ahead in the win loss ratio.
Army ok scans ok might play.
McLean should be in the bullants this week.
Etihad surface safe, our players wear long cleats or screw ins. No short stops.
Gibbs and Grigg in mid field helping out Judd,.

Thanks for that mate.

But if we put it through the Truth Translator, we get:

Army ok scans ok, but we'd be crazy to risk him this week. Let's just keep Collingwood guessing though.
Etihad surface is disgraceful, and it really disadvantages us to have to play on that flower paddock five weeks in a row. Having to run 15k a game in long stops on a hard, shifting surface is doing our players no favours at all. What we wouldn't give to play all our home games at the MCG. Sigh.

Did he rattle off the discrepancy in games experience between Melbourne and Sydney?? because that clearly had a lot of relevance yesterday.

No comment on Waite?

Agreed....I know all games throw up totally different variables but boy how my blood boils watching a passionate, hard running and fierce tackling Melb beat Sydney. We have been playing a soft c*ck brand of football for 6 weeks. Let's hope they decide to entertain us at the G on Sat with a virtuoso performance to kick start our finals campaign. And if we can't do that, can someone at least knock out those two front runners Beames and Sidebottom.

He thinks the club is where it's expected to be........... So this makes us ok?

Pfft..... Spare me, please!

This is accepting mediocrity and IMHO, thats not what this football club is about!

Waite; He just mentioned that he thought it was shoulder to shoulder.

He's right about the kicking, but for me the most important difference was in the second half we looked up the ground for an option and kept moving forward and we only released by hand if the guy on the ball could'nt identify a target and the ball carrier was under REAL presssure.

In the first half we were getting a possesion and then laying the ball off to the rear for absolutely no reason what so ever.

What is that sh1t? If your not under pressure to release, why give it to a guy who's 10m behind you under less pressure.?
, but its main effect was to give the WCE players more time to get on their man, particularly if our posession had come from a turnover.

It looked clunky, slow and pre-planned and obviously didn't work.

I'm honestly not trying to be a smart arse with that comment. But it was perhaps the most stupid, self serving and brazenly deflective answer I've heard a coach give. As supporters I really think we deserve better.

I guess there was no comment then on what the club is trying to do about injecting some intelligence into Waite. He's my favorite player, and probably our most important - to have him running around doing that sort of thing 30 minutes into the last quarter nursing a 5 goals lead is not good enough considering how he's cost the club this year.

He's a great advertisement for research into some kind of brain chip/remote control technology, something with an override function you could enable when he's running towards opposition players.

Well I expected a top 6 finish at least with our maturing list of elite talents and an opportunity for a properly structured forward line so if there's a campaign being employed now to lower expectations well that's a bit deflating IMO.

Still, there's 5 rounds to go so lets hope Ratts can get the boys playing effective football.

Yes, he has, but that doesn't mean everyone should accept that as the standard.

The list we've assembled over the last 5 years should see us at least as a top 6 club this year IMO.
If we don't make top 6 it's my opinion that we have a problem either with recruiting, development or coaching staff.

5 weeks to go, let's hope it's positive.

It's such a great thing to set our goals at the start of the year and not have to worry about unimportant things, like how the season might play out when the real action starts, or how other teams' form may surprise us which may impact on where we could end up on the ladder.

I love it. Such clarity and singleminded vision should be applauded. It's not like a season throws you a curveball at any stage. Steady as she goes and all that.

Evidently, the fact we could have seriously pushed for top four and actually contended this year is unimportant considering we'd decided in February that making the eight, and maybe sneaking an elimination final win was good enough. Never mind that that when we dropped our bundle it was wrong/funny to be questioned because journos outside the club didn't think we were any good in the first place.

Unless they go to a final 10 (which I don't think they will and hope they don't) I look forward to an 18 team comp as it will be very rare for a side to get into the finals winning only half their games.

We could get in with 11 wins, and if we do that, or if any side does that, why should you be playing finals?

If we only win 11 that means we have gone 4-7 from halfway, and without major injuries (apart from Kreuzer) would be totally unacceptable.

goals smoals

what's the point of sneaking into a prelim and getting slapped around, look at the doggies 4 eliminations in a row and not any closer to the big prize .... all in our good time .... 2011, 2012 or 2013 with a cup ... not the saucer

What would Ratts do in Freo's position then? Talk up yesterday's 82 point loss? Accept dropping out of the 8 as most people didn't think they would be higher than 12th?
