Make or break really. Plain as day- this is the most pressure that the whole club has been under for quite a while. Win this and we can work on getting our season back on track.

What I would like to see:
- Hampson played up forward. His last quarter yesterday was one of the very few highlights for us. Contested marking, second and third efforts, and a couple of goals. Could have kicked a couple more if he was accurate and if the umpire had paid the mark directly in front.

- Protection of Judd. Yesterday I noticed he was mauled again. It is really starting to frustrate him in that he cannot run and carry like he could at West Coast. He comes off the ground with nothing left. Something needs to be done...pronto!

- Murphy put his head over the ball.

- Jamison to play in front...especially if he's on Le Cras

- Delivery into the forward line to improve

- A less crowded and congested forward line. It kills us.

- Faster ball movement.

- Less going backwards. Especially if we're down.

Could go on and on...but please Carlton, give me something!!

CAn we win? I am not so sure
Will Le Cras kick a bag? That is possible, let's check the KPIs for our defence....Mm, more than possible
Do we need a forward line? Possibly, who knows, we may chose to play a one or no man forward line and then we can have all our players on the ball and bombing it long into the 50. Then we can point to a victory in the inside 50s even if we inexplicably fail to win because we have no players inside 50
Would losing be a disaster? Of course not. No-one expected us to be in the 8, so why should we win interstate against a recent premier, be a great effort if we get within 40 points, if we can hold our opponents to an under 40 point victory it will really show that we are getting back to stellar form

Is a victory expected ? Well we will try and win all the statistical measures and the scoreboard is just one of those, so really the KPIs will tell the story even if we lose, we are young and inexperienced and the Bombers will lose again so no pressure on our coach.

any idea of the status of Houlihan's injury? helpfully not listed on the club website.

He said he had a 'sore' knee before the game yesterday.

according to Simmo Hoops should be back next week http://www.carltonfc.com.au/news/newsar ... fault.aspx

and according to Scotland Subi might be the place for us to find form
http://www.carltonfc.com.au/news/newsar ... fault.aspx

Can't say I'm too convinced but at least some of the players are starting to realise things are going down the dunny fast.

OUT; Walker, Lucas, Robinson
IN: Warnock, Ellard, Houlihan

Carrazzo v Priddis head to head just get the ball Carrots!!!
Warnock ruck Hampson FF
Waite to wing as link on big ground
Ellard hard at it in the middle

If Gibbs' back stops him from travelling bring in Johnston we need his disposal

Watched the replay
Disposal into 50 in the first quarter was soul destroying. You could see the reaction of the players to the shocking errors with stupid short passes in the forward line.

In Ratten's defence; i think he is trying to talk up the positives this week after blasting the players continuously for the past month. That's my only explanation to his assertion that the second half was good!!
you may find the coaches agreed before talking to the players that the message would be; we're getting better.

I think if Robinson keeps his spot he needs to play in the midfield a lot more. He is one guy that brings aggression and hardness to the team which is what we have been lacking in the middle. Murphy and Gibbs just don't seem to be playing with that zip and passion we have seen from them in the past.

Walker can get a reprimand with an early plea. High contact low impact.

Not on current form though.

Out Carazzo Jamo
In Thornton Ellard

If thornton throws his head back or abuses everyone else in the backline for his mistakes it should be his last game.

No Thornton stays with the Ants and Jamo can join him.
My KPPs would be Bower Walker Waite Hendo Fisher. Play Fish deep leading from the goalsquare and rotate the others forward and back as required.

........AND CAN WE BAN THE BLADE BOOTS PLEASE??? They're crap and unsuitable for the surfaces we play on . Back to the drawing board NIKE...!

Good onya Rexy.

Jamo can go and join Thornton in the Ants and Jamo supporters like (J & K's etc) can go and see their (once) hero in Melbournes because truly Jammo is coming up short week in week out and he should follow Setanta and Thornton for matching their output (only for a longer period). In fact why don't we try Setanta at FB for Jammo; that's how bad Jammo has been for 2 months now.

Jamo is hopeless atm. His ego might be his strong point. I'm over him. His supporters can paint whatever picture they want, it wonot help his form one bit.

Anyone want to argue the "Keep Jammo In" argument, or the "Jammo is hot" argument, bring it on, because I've got all guns full of ammunition.

Very much a tale of two halves today.

Gibbs was continually moved around and punished by his team mates in the first half, fine in the second. He may not be setting the world on fire, but he's not really getting the chance to.

Murphy was absolutely woeful in the first half; completely lacking confidence, and at one point gave away a shot he would have been happy to take mere weeks ago. In the second half he was about as defensively disciplined as I have ever seen him. In my opinion, he saved his bacon with that form reversal.

Russell, Armfield, Walker, Bower, Joseph and even Jamison were victims of the lack of pressure in midfield. Jamison, however, was woeful in everything but following his man. Has to go back to the VFL, which is where he should have gone last week. In comes the bloke who should have stayed.

Waite was all over the shop at times but so was the rest of the team in Ratten's ridiculous roll down. I'm glad he abandoned zone defending in the midfield for the second half; we looked much better for it. However he's been instructing the players on zones seems to be confusing them, as they zoned off and closed down much better in their attempt at a man-on-man defence. Back to Waite: he deserves another week despite his inept and lazy field kicking, simply because he had a dip.

Robinson was definitely the victim of the coaches instructions. He is not a modern day half-forward, and never will be.

Judd, Scotland and Simpson were consistently put under pressure by their team mates ball movement and the surface, and then when those two didn't get at them, the weight of their own expectations seemed to. They need a bit of help.

Henderson, Garlett, Yarran & Betts all had a real dip and all looked dangerous for periods of the game despite the midfield allowing Sydney to set up something of a siege; their necks are spared.

That leaves Carrazzo; how a senior player can be so mindless and self-satisfied is beyond me. Since the Saints game, his stopping jobs have been over-hyped, and consistently inconsistent. This guy keeps getting a free pass when he should be a candidate to win the ball inside, and provide protection for our other clearance players. It seems he has sacrificed just about every other aspect of his game to be our midfield shut-down guy. Time for a break, because apparently the half-time bake did not help you.

Finally, an issue presents itself with Lucas having another hamstring twinge: why are our players coming off as lacking zip, or incapable of laying a bump? Are we over-working them during the week, or are we under-supervising their conditioning and they're taking short cuts with stretching, physio, etc. I know Cordy does his job well, but what about the physio and medico staff that work with him, or does it come from the coaching side of things exerting pressure to get required players in the match-day mix? We have had a number of players hit a physical wall, and very few of them have recuperated.

If Houlihan isn't right to go, I'd think about bringing in one of Johnson or Tuohy.

Well said jimmae.

Yeah, I'd prefer Thornton to Jammo too!!! That's how bad Jammo has been for a long long while.

I'm a big fan of Carrazzo, but his last month (if not more as you suggest) is below AFL level. Carrots is doing zero for us atm.

I'm not a Carrots fan but was really happy he was finally being very effective as a Tagger.

Only a 3 weeks ago he gave mone of my fav's in Rich a bath.

If he doesn't tag he shouldn't play.

Against the eagles, if he goes to Priddis and plays him tight, we win.

He should just get the best player from each team we play and thats it.

Jimmae - explain how we can play Zach Tuohy without receiving a fine from the AFL? I wouldn't have thought he was permitted to play this year. As for next year - I hold high hopes for Zach.

In: Hoops, Ellard
Out: Grigg, Lucas
