A new footy program on Fox Sports each Wednesday night at 7.30. It's hosted by Gerard Whately and Mark Robinson, and they catch up with David King and Mark Maclure via skype for their take on the current issues.

I'd just open up with, "Brett, you've got 10 minutes to tell us why your team is so soft. And what the @#$%&! are you going to do about it."

I bet you that Ratten uses the phrase "Moving Forward" at least 31 times.......

I'd be more inclined to ask what he sees his failing are as a coach.

Is it match day strategy?
Match day reaction?
Selection?
Player development?
Game structures?
Forward line plan B?
Motivational quality/leadership?
Coaching panel?
Acceptance of mediocrity?

Why do we start so badly :?:

In all of our 8 losses, we have been behind at Qtr Time

I think we can expect the usual, cliche' responses to questions. Will be nothing to see tonight. Just broad answers to questions.

To be honest, expecting him to tell us stuff all and reel out a bunch of hackneyed, glib cliches.

Oh and prepare for the stats, just to prove what an "authority" he is on coaching. :banghead:

I would expect as many, if not more references to 'our group'.

Things I expect to be said:

- This is an exciting challenge for our young group
- Football is 90% half mental (or something similar to Percy Jones famous quote)
- I think we were the youngest side this week
- I do not model for man magazine
- No one thought we would make the 8
- Wont believe its not butter
- Will herald Gillard's early election as a cunning piece of political nous, before declaring it will be a big challenge for her young group to get over the line on August 21
- Some random Sydney stat (maybe repeating the 31 games on average more experience)
- Clearance stats
- Accuracy stats
- Stats Ratts and the Carlton MC have recently created to prove everything is going well
- Post Fev stats
- Kreuzer's injury has hurt us
- We are not bottom 4, confident of turning things around
- Trot out other runs of form/no form of other sides
- Will be good to get away from the evil Etihad Stadium this week. Its killed our run, and doesn't coach as well under a roof.
- Being undefeated at Subi is a condition built into his contract. Its immediately terminated once we lose a game there

I am confident they will all be covered.

It may look like our effort was substandard in the first quarter but 62% of our augmented inside 50 catches were from 72% of our younger players who are in the bottom 16 AFL percentile, Mike.

Anything else?

My first question.......'Brett your season has spiralled out of control. Despite getting plenty of the ball your side cannot score and have been uncompetitive even against apparent inferior sides. It would also appear you've lost the players judging by recent heartless and spineless performances. Why should you still be senior coach of the Blues?

Haha. This is a brilliant question! Wouldn't bet any money on it being asked though.

But we are 5th in scoring for and all is well and our confidence is up after our second half performance when the game was well and truly over apparently.

That is what I am hoping to here from him this evening. So re-assuring.

I'd really love it if they poked, prodded and pestered Ratten asking him tough questions and forced him to get angry and lose his rag.

At least then we would know it burns deep inside for Ratts. Maybe some genuine passion from the coach might be a welcome change, instead of a measured reciter of stats.

Someone needs to get angry at our club and bust some bloody heads!

I think I will ask that exact question at the pre-match function on Saturday - although it will have to be phrased differently to whichever patsy the club puts up because it wont be Ratts.

"Mike, as they game panned out, we met 95 % of our KPi's so the match was clearly a win for us. Sure the 5 % we missed was in the areas of our Score, opponent score, our ball use, opponents possesion and keeping them out of their 50m, but 95 % is pretty good isn't it?

We are going to be asking the AFL for a KPI column on the Premiership ladder!"
