It really makes no difference how good Ratten's skills were as a player the issue now is that we don't appear to have players who would fight to the death to avoid a loss or a MC who can either get the best out of them or come up with a system or style of play which gives us the best chance of winning.

I don't think anyone is. Waste of a generation.

Actually Gen Yers probably don't need a coach. They already know everything and have never heard the word "no".

After watching the last few games live Joseph is struggling as a defender. I think he needs to play in the guts and niggle pester players otherwise he seems off the pace.I hate too say this but Murphy apart from a spoil I didn't see much at all almost reminded me of n.Stevens seems lazy... For the love of god play Gibbs forward of the center !!!!!

My biggest issue is there seems to be a lack of genuine dare in the coaches box when things don't go our way. The game was shot at halftime why not try something simple like throw Yazz in at HB ? Instead we start with the usual suspects down there who were just not on today. While I watched those guys continue to fumble the footy and kick sideways, Yazz was getting cold up forward. His run and carry when he had the footy today was electric. He's probably our most skilled, cleanest and arguably fastest player. Put him down at HB, tell him to hit the afterburners then our lazy midfielders and flankers will be forced to spread as they were not doing this well all day.

Agreed. This has been a reasonably consistent pattern over the last few weeks and there doesn't appear to be any signs of it being addressed.

Yeah and it ends up in a vicious cycle...game plan a doesn't work, players get down, MC can't get the best out of them, game plan b doesn't work, players get down, mC can't get the best out of them...

I know our coach loves his numbers....so here are a few more stats for rats to ponder...

vs freo 55 - 42 inside 50's...lost by 9 points
vs bulldogs 53 - 55 inside 50's...lost by 68 points
vs swans 52 - 45 inside 50's...losy by 39 points

over the course of these games, the opposition has kicked 50 goals from 142 inside 50 entries, we have kicked 30 from 160 inside 50 entries...

we are winning the footy...and having a dip...but just have no IDEA what to do with it !!!!!!

just as a reference the other winning sides this week had the following inside 50's (Adel 50, Coll 43, WC 59, Bull 53, NM 49, Freo 54)....

:?:

Always thought it would be interesting for journos to ask, "How do you think you could have coached more effectively today?"

What do you expect from Marc Murphy when Ratten and his two mates (diesel and bradley) think Murph is an outside player and give him a licence to hang out side the packs rather than hunt the ball himself...... dur!!!!

Stupid people ruining this team and club.

I did not even get angry this time - just given the season away. I have been sitting through all these dark years because the club needed our support and there were good reasons for all the losses. I was so looking forward to the talent coming in, Murphy = Messiah, Judd, Gibbs, Kruuz... etc. I have been telling my son, not long my boy, not long..... I feel betrayed - yes that is the feeling - betrayed.

If there is no decent review at seasons end I assume there will be an interesting AGM.

Logic.

Remember logic, people.

Where did we learn this behaviour?

Only gotta blame the people that raised Gen Y for that

This is just plain wrong!!! By all means vent your frustration but dont make up utter rubbish and pass it off as inside knowledge, you just look like a tool!!!

I too am disappointed Murph doesnt put his head over the ball as often as he should, but to say it is a directive of the coach/coaches is laughable!!

DUR!!!
