Captain Dan - interesting take from Maclure... did he suggest anything else besides having Ratts go back to uni?

Not really. His view was mainly that it is a tough gig coaching an AFL side, and you need to know exactly what you're doing- you either know how to handle things or you don't. He feels Ratts cannot cope with the current demands and thus, needs a bit of extra training. I found his last comment, that his previous coaching roles wouldn't really hold him in good stead for what he is doing now, may ring a little true. Ratten was senior coach at Norwood footy club in the Eastern Football League, and then an assistant at Melbourne from my understanding.

THink it was the other way around. Melbourne, Norwood and then assisant at Carlton.

A little unsure of the order it was, although he was definitely at Norwood in the 2006 season. Coached them to a Grand Final against Scoresby, but they lost.

Greg Swann's take on what's wrong.

Carlton CEO Greg Swann discusses Brett Ratten and coaching contracts - http://bit.ly/bBuIbs

When you go back and listen to this interview again it really sends the wrong message

The head of the organisation saying dont worry production is down we lost one of our productive worker we about where we should be I know they are taking longer lunches but we can live with it

He should have said that three to four weeks of this rubbish wont be tolerated
He should have said we dont care if you lose but FFS have dip

Bad message and todays result reflected this casual attitude

Not to worry - Ratts was happy with the second half so it's all good! :yikes:

As some one said earlier - set the bar low enough and ........
