Where's he been all these years. LTI I'm guessing? Hopefully he can play like he did against Collingwood in 2004. Welcome back Davies

Great to see Houilhan and Thornton out

Houlihan is injured.

People who have watched Houlihan this year would know that he's been a good player in 2010.

You'll probably tell us that Hardwick has Cousins, Moore, Polo and Cousins on the straight and narrow because he's so tough. :garthp:

I'd have houlihan in the top 10 of our b&f - averaging over a goal/match and in many games has done the defensive forward role extremely well.

I agree he has played well in some games and would be top 10 in the b& F. I just think we need to try something new. I think we need better than houla in that position.

If eddie is not fit and doesn't play then I think Ellard may take his spot. Certainly Ellard is capable of playing on ball or forward and has the tank to run out a game and can kick goals.

They won't respect them.

Robinson isn't there yet.

Houlihan's transformation into a lock down half forward has worked because the opposition know he can hurt them by foot. They also have to worry about Houlihan getting the ball because he can hit up a teammate inside fifty or a kick goal with either foot. The Houlihan who played under Pagan wouldn't have taken a brave chest mark running back to the square.

The bagging of Thornton on this site really shits me !!

His performances for this club over the last 7 years have been terrific, especially in the lean years where he regularly played on the number 1 forwards week in week out. His season last year was fantastic and there were people on this site mentioning him for all Australian selection.

Between Robert Walls, the majority of this site and the coach they have somehow managed to turn him into the scapegoat.

How anyone can justify Jamieson getting a game ahead of Thornton at the moment defies logic.

Jamieson has been terrible over the last month and to me Thornton is far more flexible and can play tall or short, uses the ball well and generally makes good decisions. Jamieson provides no drive or run, and when he gets the ball regularly makes terrible decisions.

I'd have Thornton ahead of Jamieson every time.

I partly agree with you on Jamisen
But Thornton has to stop being a sook

If Thornton was to play it would be as a forward.
He can take a contested mark.

Defenders these days have to run and carrry the ball forwards as well as defend.

Thornton will never do that

As for Houlihan his game on Sunday was soft soft and soft

Seen it too many times
He just does enough to stay in the side.

I know he is injured but its raising the bar.

As much as i dont like to admit it, ive been looking forward to make a killing
on the Swans at under 39 points at the rather remarkable odds of $3.20.

Now that the MC seems to have finally developed some Testicular Fortitude
i am having severe second thoughts, aka we might actually shit on this mob
of yesterdays bloody heroes !!

Ellard had to play finally, number 32 had to go out...again.
The ice is getting thinner by the week Bret.
Hope Davies gets a gig, Armfield couldnt possibly be out i reckon.

This could all be scuppered a tad if Henderson doesnt come up though.
yet long term its great to be able to say that after his 20 or so games only.

All i want is for the 22 to put their gonads on the line for their mates.
Oh and maybe my $ sake too, cmon blues fire the flower hell up !!!!

I don't mind who the four on the bench are who get picked. All of them bring something different to the team.

Thursday. Oh..those ins and outs don't look too bad.
Friday. Maybe we could win this week.
Saturday. Yep..pretty sure we can win this.
Sunday. We'll win. I love my team.

We are $1.53 and about 75% of tipsters across Age and HUN have picked us, WTF!

What am I missing?

Based on form, Swannies slight favorites as far as I'm concerned.

A game I will watch with interest - hoping that Ellard gets a run - but little expectation

Not hard to use the ball well kicking it 10 metres sideways. Would love to see Thornton apply an ounce of physical pressure to an opponent.

Jamison has pluses this year at least, and had been good up until the past few weeks.. Thornton is a complete passenger though, doesn't attack, and can't defend. Last year was a great year for him, but this year he's been turned into the scape goat for being crap, and also because of how much better the team looked w/o him

Good luck to Davies though..... I have a lot of faith in this kid!
