That's a matter of opinion I suppose.

Austin is slow

Off the mark yes, to an extent. Long strides and is well and truly AFL standard for his size.

cannot read the play

This has a little merit given he is poor at defending out of the square, but he's barely 22.

constantly gets beaten on leads

Not true.

and lacks penertration in his kicking

He is an above average kick, so that is just utter tripe.

2010 was a big year for Mark Austin but unfortunatley injury has runied his season

Agree.

and now after being on the list for 5 years

Four years. Drafted at the end of 2006.

it is time to go Mark Austin

Safe to say I don't agree.

Going to be great to have Jarrad Waite back in the team. Needs to be played as a forward, deep aswell. I go back to the Saints game and his work deep in the forward line that night was outstanding. Can take a mark and kick a goal. What he can't get his hands on the other three little blokes should clean up. Keep the forward line uncongested is a must.

Hope I don't regret taking the little bloke, especially as going with a few Swans supporters, but I have hope of a win.

Don't think Gibbs on Goodes will work, Goodes made absolute toast of him last year at Etihad, but Gibbs was a major factor in the final quarter ass kicking when he went into the middle. Possibly send Walker to Goodes as should match him for speed, jump and endurance

It was a hard game last year, but we wore them down and then ran away with it - Fev had little influence.

I believe we have a better team than the Swannies at the moment, particularly without Bradshaw - so just need to play to potential, oh and tackle well and often

As much as I'm a fan of Stetant, he needs a rest. Not sure who to replace him with, possibly wiggo :yikes: (I'm not a fan either, but will create a contest) or Fisher :banghead: (yep also not my favourite idea) but to those posters who suggest Waite (and he will come in) this is NOT his role. Waite is great at reading the play and taking the mark in from the side. To do this you need someone to be wrestling the fullback, or drawing (leading) the fullback away from the fall of the ball - that is the Stetant / Wiggo / Fish / someone job.

So for me
In:
Lucas - surely a must
Wiggins
Waite

Out:
Stetant
Thornton
??? any of Joseph / Robbo / Carrots / Yarran

Go Blues

Nah, i think we REALLY need a skinny blond streak wearing number 26 right about now !!
Or a curly haired little rover wearing number 16.

Sigh, those were the days........

I'd put Prender on Goodes. Has the motor to go with him and the size to match him in the air. And he's beaten him when he's played on him.

Waite has played this role this season and done pretty well. Plant anyone of those three names you mention in the square and their opponent will pay them no mind. Maybe we can take advantage of that, or maybe we can just move the ball quickly and operate with Houla and our three small forwards.

Waite in as Blues look for spark

Quote:
Waite has served a two-match suspension and the coach said he was a definite starter against the Sydney Swans on Sunday.

"He will play - there's no doubt about that … we've missed Jarrad," Ratten said from Visy Park on Thursday.

...

Fellow forward Brad Fisher, who is also on the comeback trail from knee reconstruction, booted four goals in the VFL at the weekend, but Ratten said he was unlikely to play his first AFL game for the season after he received a knock to a leg in that match.

From the footage of training they showed on C10 news last night I would be very surprised if Hendo played. That knee was very heavily strapped and protected. Hope I'm wrong and that he's fine to play.

Finally.

Hopefully Ellard gets the gig ahead of Grigg so we can see where he is at.

Got the right balance down back. Jamison and Bower as the talls, Walker can play tall or small.

In fact, save for Kreuzer and Houlihan (and maybe a fit McLean), it's probably our best 22. Don't think either O'hAilpin or Thornton are currently in our best 22.

Me too. Ellard deserves a run. Solid every week in the Ants. Will be very interested to see how he goes at the next level.
