Remove the emotion from your fan base and you'll end up with 10,0000 members and a sterile, shadow of a game. The strength of the game is built on the emotion of supporters and their willingness to "buy into" the culture of a club.

100,000 members? Sounds good to me!

Reading comprehension not your strong suit BV?

I didn't say "remove the emotion from your fan base", I said "What is really needed to accurately assess football is to remove the emotion".

Two very different statements.

I didn't claim they are the same.
You made comment about the problems associated with the emotional outcomes of fan behaviour.
I was making a comment on the positives associated with the emotional investment of football fans to the game. It wasn't meant to contradict your little diatribe.

Glad you clarified.

Not a diatribe at all.

My diatribes (even the little ones) are way longer than that.

I too find it fundamentally astonishing that people claim to be Carlton supporters and rock up to games with the sole intention of bagging (loudly and obnoxiously) Carlton players and coaching staff whether it be Russell, Thornton, Carrazzo, Ratten or Stevens. That's not supporting at all.

Having said that, the only pleasure I gained from Sunday's performance was watching Jeff Garlett chasing his arse off all day. By three quarter time that could no longer sustain my interest and I thought the Locker Room was a better place to be.
