What i don`t understand is that the club obviously knew we were going to be in trouble up forward by chasing Bradshaw so hard. When that fell through what was plan B ? Fingers crossed Hendo and Setanta come good?

Cons

Hampson...even the GC will think twice now.
Hoops, its time to go. Looks like Tarzan......
Setanta, love your passion, but the experiment has come to an end.

Pros

Surely Lucas will now get to play the rest of the year ?
Should get some games into Davies and maybe even Ellard will be rewarded for his efforts

The thing is Mil is that we're a team that's playing not 1 but 2 project players ... Hampson and Setanta. They try but sadly they're not up to it. Mind you .... I'm not blaming them for our loss today.

Pros:
-None

Cons:
- Murphy is quickly creating a name for himself as the softest most unaccountable mids in the game. Runs forward with gusto but refuses to run backwards to defend. And he has a few mates as well.

- Since our run of 6 or so games at Etihad started we have been woeful. Opposition coaches know how to beat Carlton. Flood back and cram their forward 50. Carlton has no structure, panics and a loses its way. Opposition then run hard the other way as they know the Carlton mids wont follow. Opposition 50 is open for free scoring. Other clubs see us as soft, unaccountable and easily intimidated.

- Brings me to my last point. Tactically we are terrible. Our coaching staff need to be overhauled. Unfortunately starting at the top. Love Ratts, love his passion, but we are getting done over tactically. Once we lose our structures we panic and get sloppy. Making some of our players look worse than they are.

- Setanta experiment is over. Fisher would be better. I know he isn't part of our future but neither is the big irishman.

- How can the MC play 2 "project" players in Setanta and Hampson at once against a team like the Dogs, at a fast ground in such an important match. ????????

Really great to see Garlett hit the 20 goal mark. Sensational effort in only his second year and being as skinny as he is.

The closed training sessions of earlier this year aren't exactly paying dividends.

Cons : The M.C. not understanding when a player needs to go back and find form rather than watching them dismantle on the big stage. e.g O'hAilpin and Hampson.
Angus Four 'n Twenty's too peppery
Watching another season slide down the toilet

Pros: Waite didn't get sighted for elbowing any of the Optus Penguins during the before the game crazy fun.

Pros:

Judd - he will dies one day on that ground for us i kid u not
Army - great run and heart
Bower - not injured, we hope anyway
JR - solid
Ratts - may get sacked after this or at least put on notice so we can then get a Roos, Mathews, malthouse, SOS, anyone who has qualifications.

Cons:

Ratts - would have to be the luckiest man in the country that his boss is a good friend of his. A good friend who has no idea how to run a football club and is only in the job by default. STOP TALKING ABOUT WHO WE HAVE TO STOP FROM OTEHR TEAMS AND START PUTTING TOGETHER A PLAN FOR OTHER TEAM TO WORRY ABOUT.

Coaching staff - I had a think about this before our game and suggest to my brother that there isnt an assistant coach at our great club who would be able to walk into any of the other 15 clubs and get a job. Riley, Bradley, Montgomery, lappin are all C-Grade coaches at best. Roberty harvey is unproven and is only there based on his rep as a player at the moment.

Stenanta O' HELP ME - this was fun while it lasted (thanks Dennis) but i think its time to move forward. He just doesnt look right and wont be in our next premiership side, if we ever win one again that is.

Gibbs - this comment may get all of you asking for my head or as probably none of you know who i am u might not take any notice but here goes. he in my mind would have to be the worst number 1 pick since Waterhouse at Freo. Overrated (belongs at Collingwood) disposal is poor too many times, decision making not up to the standard, his engine is always half full (he has had 4 pre seasons and still cant run hard for longer than 1 half of football) rarely gets his own ball and wait for it I WISH HE NEVER RESIGNED AND WAS TRADED TO GC FOR SOME EARLY PICKS because he is killing me at the moment (AND I HAVE NUMBER 4 ON MY JUMPER)

forward line - LAPPIN??? are u kidding me? no seriously???

Defence - Montgomery??? same as above.

Midfield - Riley??? here we go again. apart from Judd who else knows what they are doing?

Team Selection - If Hampson is better than Warnock then we need to murder the people who pushed really hard to get him to the club.

Board - Sticks??? see assistant coaches. time for a real president to come in... anyone interested. SOMEONE WITH BALLS AND BRAINS.

crowd - 37,000 people for 5th v 6th - 2 melb teams. somethings up. How much did we lose for this game $$$

positions -

Hamspon has no chance of being anything except a ruckman, and even that is a long shot

Where does houla play?

Who here thinks Robbo is a forward? with grunt like that wouldnt you use that in defence??? at least try it once or twice

where does gibbs play these days? can we maybe try him up forward?

who is blocking for judd?

Who are our marking / leading half forwards?

where is our run out of defence? thornton and jamo dont run at all so we can only keep one of them IMO

i have to go back to work but thats all ive got at the moment.

go blues.

pro

now we have to make some changes like

white in - runs straight, kicks long

lucas in - runs straight and fast, good kick

Warnock in - unless this is about the trades at the end of the year I'd be playing Warnock and Jacobs.

play kids.

pros

army, russell, judd was ok and i thought henderson did some good things

cons

foward structure was horrible, need a foward to present, i was watching lake vs setanta all day and flower lake is a smart player
murphy and gibbs soft as butter
too many down hill skiers in the side
a month ago i thought top 4 maybe, today i think our season is done

goin with a bulldog supporter there, buying general admin bc i forgot my membership and only seats that were left were right next to the bulldog cheersquad and then staying with my friend all day so she could sing the bloody song.

Hampson actually did some nice things the minute he got on the ground...................His ruck work ? he actually nearly always gets his hand on the aggot first.Thats a great start.Hampson going to the forward line was probably the smartest move Ratten made yesterday.Surely if you reckon Kruezer is a chance at CHF then Hampson is at least half a chance to make it as a CHF.The problem wasnt the move of Hampson to the forward line but the fact he made the move FAR too late.It was obvious half way through the first quarter our forward structure wasnt going to work and needed an injection of height.......................thats the trouble with Ratts. His timing is terrible.its either too late, too earl,or not at all.
Hampson is the least of our concerns. One big issue at the moment is the three amigo's.Someone better tell them fellas that the CFC is about everyone pulling together.Cliques and teams within a team is a surefire recipe for disaster. These three blokes should have been told to pull up as soon as theycome this caper.Joey Anderson is quite happy to blend in and be part of the team............

PS........................Chris Yarran is gifted no doubt. But he's gonna go nowhere unless he plays like an AFL footballer. Not like a VFL footballer which he is doing now. This problem cant wate. Its gotta be sorted out RIGHT now or he will become another front running downhill skiing Leon Davis.Chris has gotta step up NOW.He can do it.Hes got what it takes.WH is doing quite well at his job,but right now Yarran is letting him down.

I garee Mickstar.

Hammer showed a lot of good signs. For one he was the only one who consistently put his head over the ball and didn't care what the consequence was; very Kreuzer like. In the ruck, he got his hand on the ball first. In the forwardline he looked damgerous and defensively his closing speed was very good. Plenty of upside for Hammer...as for the rest (nearly all the rest) have a @#$%&! dip....like Hammer did.

They did....we started the year well and opps hadn't adjusted to our new game plans/structures.

After some highly touted wins against last years grand finalists tactics changed against us and we haven't recovered.

In the teams best interests its hard to fathom the criticism of closed training sessions.
