You just said he was powerless now he's heavily involved. I think yesterday's hammering has effected some poster's brains.

people can ham it up all they want. the simply fact is we have failed in our recruiting. now whose failure that is, I am not sure as I don't know what the set up is down there and who makes the calls on such things. But collectively, we have somehow managed to go on and on ignoring what has been frightfully obvious to most of the football world for years and years. We don't have any Key Position Players. We have drafted 1 genuine key position player in recent history and we traded him away. Now we are stuck with the likes of Setanta and Thornton playing key position roles and we are getting smashed... and we alll sit around wondering where it all went wrong.

when you add to this the fact that our recent trades in Warnock and McLean have been nothing short of disasterous and a coach that has no idea how to get the best out of the talent that he does have at his disposal, it all points to a club heading towards a train wreck.

we have had one genuinely good win this season against Geelong. We got the Saints at the right time while they were still adjusting to life witout Nick... if you think that was a great win, just remember that the Saints lost to Port Adelaide and Essendon* and fell over the line with 3 goals in the last 5 minutes against the dogs either side of us.

the 2 wins against the last year's grand finalists were the worst thing that could have happened in hindsight, because it masked glaring deficiencies and gave fals hope.

we are a very ordinary football team

Do you have any good veins left?

I hope that vent makes you feel better because it's nothing but a rant.

Anyone who believes that we didn't need a Mclean and Warnock shouldn't bag the team's lack of spirit and Hampson.

Essendon* have drafted KPP, yet they're still awful.

Setanta kicked five on the KPP Collingwood drafted with a top ten pick.

And kept Taylor honest.

You know recruiting and footy.

Collingwood didn't set the world on fire with a 28 points win over Port, but they're still on track to a flag.

Rant, rant, rant.

I think BM you need to be a little clearer when you turn the sarcasm on.

I thought it was quite clear...

I don't think we've come close to getting to the real source of the problem...I'd like to single out the Match Committee from the 1975-76 seasons who refused to reward the good reserve grade form of Wayne Deledio.

Had he been given more of an opportunity to show his wares at senior level, I have no doubt he'd have played 100 games for Carlton and therefore Brett would have gone father-son to the Blues in the 2004 draft.

The players weren't soft and insipid when we drafted them, just the way we develop them.

Agreed.

A lot of our players had such promising first season or two out of the U-18s yet just haven't come on as expected at all.

Grigg
Hampson
Austin
Gibbs
Murphy
Walker
Browne
Even Jamison and Bower are not where we had hoped they would be after so many years. Russell is about the only player who has been developed well in the team
