I left early and I couldn't care less how that looks to anyone.
I've got a family and personal life and I can decide how to spend my time.
I owe the players nothing. When they serve up the crap that they do yesterday, i'd rather be home seeing my kids before bedtime.
The problem isn't "supporters" its "players".

Could not agree more with Captain Dans post, i agreed with everything written.

And to the pathetic losers who call themselves fans, up on level two near aisle 29 at the fence who ruin the game for everyone else sitting around them every single home game, grow up. The ones who stand up and yell out and swear vile words when there are kids around, usually bagging Carlton players. God knows how many times i heard "Carrazzo is a f*ng bludger" yelled out loud during the game, even when it wasn't even Carrazzo who made the error...

Sooooo annoying. :banghead:

After yesterday, it would be difficult to argue that we actually have one

Yesterday was simply unacceptable and these types of lapse's do worry me, it is not a good look. A significant portion of 'winning' is actually beating your mentally oppoents before they even get on the field. Call it imtimidation if you will. While we have the skills, we do not 'intimidate' the other sides and that is something we need to work on if we are going to progress.

It seems more and more supporters are coming out and laying the blame on Ratten. Personally I
dont like to point the finger at one person, but the impressions are that there are some real issues
down at that club.

What worries me, is if we keep performing the way we do everyone will continue to blame
Ratten and I feel he will be remembered as the coach who failed us, rather than the champion player he was.

I left at 3 quarter time yesterday and being a Sunday night probably would have done the same if we were 10 goals up.

I said I wasn't going to buy a membership after the appalling Fevola trade but I couldn't help it and did anyway but I support anyone who didn't as it's their right and none of anyone else's business.

I've said all along that we should judge Ratts at the end of the season. If we don't make the 8 then that would be a fail.

Hear Hear! I get very annoyed with all these holier than thou supporters who question people for leaving early. Everyone pays the same amount of money to go to a game so can do what they please without being judged.

Hell - I'm not even a member so what right have I got to post on this forum!

It's funny, this whole "let it be" argument.
There are some patently concerning signs that continuously repeat themselves and have been repeating themselves for almost 2 years now, and it is the supporters fault for not demanding answers.

Please ask yourself this and answer honestly- Do you think our current set up- (incl playing list, coaching panel, board) is good enough, professional enough and motivated enough to win a flag within the next few years?

Good enough?
Yes, we've shown we can match the best when it suits us.

Professional enough?
Too hard to tell, just when you think we might be, we dish up a month plus of shit footy. One game is fair enough, but several is not acceptable.

Motivated enough?
Not even close. Too often we play too soft. Too often we just don't seem to care.

Why is leaving early seen as a mortal sin by some? If the players clearly don't give a stuff and lay 12 tackles in a half, what is gained from my presence there?

I love the club and want them to get to the promised land and will always contribute as a member. However if they are wasting my time with crap like Sunday I am not interested. I'm almost thinking of not bothering to go until they play somewhere in the ball park of their ability. This has not happened basically since maybe the Melbourne game, though I feel we has a crack against Freo.

Obviously Dan has never intimately followed European football or NFL/NBA

Paying members expect better - everyone at the club expects better.

There is no way with so many first round picks we should be dishing out crap and getting belted.

The club either needs to lift or make some hard calls .. this year has been unacceptable.

Good point re European football clubs and NBA/NFL clubs. It's a fully professional game now and I go to expect professionals in action. Clubs in other parts of the world get booed off the ground if they dish up rubbish. Don't know if we should go that far, but Sunday was pushing my patience.

Supporters who pay good money to watch footy or racing or netball have every right to demand value for money. Every time I go to a match I have to pay airfares and accommodation on top of it. I do it willingly but that doesn't mean I don't have the right to bitch on talkback. (Not that I do because I couldn't afford the phone bill if I had to wait in line on my cellphone).

And Yes, I am a member and have been since before most of you were born. I'm just another supporter who thinks if the club wants us to pay to be a member, go out in the cold and sit in the rain (sometimes) to watch the boys go around, at least they can put in the same amount of effort that we do.

For the record, I was at the pub watching last week's tripe on TV. I wasn't at the ground, thank goodness.

There's your first mistake.

It's because they're not supporters, they're fans.

Footy is an emotional game, it brings out the emotion in even the least animated individuals

And that's the problem. They base their opinions on emotion, and then selfishly publically vent those emotions like a two year old in the supermarket; when that does nothing but harm the club.

What is really needed to accurately assess football is to remove the emotion, and only look at the cold hard facts.

Remove the emotion from your fan base and you'll end up with 10,0000 members and a sterile, shadow of a game. The strength of the game is built on the emotion of supporters and their willingness to "buy into" the culture of a club.

Part of the problem nowadays is our easy access to giving every person out there our emotional opinions.

Remember the days when there was no internet...no instant talkback radio after the game?

You could only bitch and moan amongst your mates then.

Nowadays we are bombarded from all directions on a permanent basis.
