Last time I checked the Bulldogs had lost 6 games so why the hell are people even thinking of tagging Lake?

We are at our best when sharing the load, so unless Lake can stop 6-8 players we just focus on playing our style and giving him something to worry about aside from cheap stats.

No doubt if we are in front Lake will be thrown forward as Rockets plan B

Lake should be the one worried
he has not where near the pace to keep up with betts, yaz and garlett that will be putting him under pressue
and as long as our midfeild dont butcher the ball to our forwards we will be fine
lake reads the play well so kick to our forwards on a good lead and we'll be sweet
hope the hammer gets his confidence up
love seeing him back
also grigg shud get another crach
i watched the brisbane game
countless times he was alone on the wing with heaps of space and was overlookd...

Lake said on Ch. 7 last Sunday morning that he's happy when athletic, potential goal kickers (like Buddy) roam up the ground.
If Setanta is playing & does this, & Lake, Morris, etc are back, who can fill the hole ... Hendo, Hammer? Can they mark or spoil for Eddie & co?
PS. hope I'm right in missing you Jarryd Waite!

Lake let Franklin run up the ground and didn't go with him beyond the 50 metre arc. Figured Franklin couldn't hurt them as much from there. Just waited for Franklin to come back inside 50 then picked him up.

So there's little point in trying to run Lake beyond 50 as he just won't go. Whoever takes him is better off not wasting their energy and just focus on providing a contest each and every time the ball comes in - ideally 20 -25 metres out, directly in front of goals with room for our crumbers to move either in front of or behind the pack.

In my opinion this is the most important game of the season to date... with Swans and Eagles coming up we could possibly string 4 in a row together and really give ourselves a decent crack at top 4.

Lake is a very good defender and backs himself to go for his marks.... given that

1 - Whoever is on him, DONT try and outmark him... with our smalls the primary focus should be to bring the ball to ground
2 - We should play a full Pagans paddock style with all the forwards up around the 50 mtr mark and running onto it... Betts, Gartlett and Yaz are lightning. Gilbee and Murphy wont be able to go with them... they would be under all sorts of pressure.

Blues will win this one... im confident

I'm more worried about Cooney, Boyd, Cross, Girffen, Gilbee and Murphy than I am about Lake.

And about ourselves. We have a lot to work on - esp. our disposal and intensity.

4 in a row - seriously?? We haven't strung 3 in a row!!! We are on a roll of "one in a row". And facing a team above us on the ladder who have been smashed in the media all week (thanks Wallsy, amongst others...).

Let's worry about coming to play, getting our hands on the ball and using it well.

PS. I'll bet Sydney are hoping we win this so we start talking top 4, premierships, best midfield ever etc...and won't notice when they keep kicking goals the following week!

Bradshaw is still listed as out injured for 2-3 weeks according to the Hun.

From the AFL website in the mix

CARLTON
Brad Fisher kicked four goals in the VFL to press his claims for a senior return following LARS knee surgery. Brett Ratten wasn’t enthused by the contests provided by Shaun Hampson or Setanta O’hAilpin during the win over the Lions which could open the door for Robbie Warnock. Kane Lucas must also come in for strong consideration while untried youngster Marcus Davies was rated best afield for the Bullants. Paul Bower will probably be given another week to recover from a quad strain

Ratten wasn't the only one not impressed

Comments were that it was only a precautionary 1 week break.
Would be disappointing on a number of levels if it turned out to be more serious.

Ratten said in the break that whoever got the ruck spot would be given at least a few weeks to have a real crack at it so unless we play all 3 which I wouldn't recommend then Rob will have to wait or force his way back into the side.

But not until precisely 2 mins after the game has been lost.

Good to hear that Ratts not impressed as we now know Carlos was not playing to instruction as some believe...

Marcus Davies is obviously a good kid but he wasn't in the top 6 let alone BOG.

Thats a great idea. Then he can have his "best, injury free pre-season ever"(just like last year), before breaking down around about rd 4-5 again in 2011. Sorry for being so cynical...but for some players (ala Xavier Clarke, Sean Rusling) that is their destiny...
