Hopefully Brisbane has played us into a bit of form. We looked completely out of confidence in the first quarter but the ineptness of the Brisbane team gave us a chance to get back some belief moving forward.

Hammer hasn't played AFL for a long long time, for someone still very much learning the game.

Started to come into the game at the end. That dish off to Betts for a goal was good and his tackle was massive.

Was he on the ground for most of the first three quarters? Not being sarcastic just didn't see him on TV.

A good win in the end.

I thought Carazzo was back to his brilliant best - absolutely murdered Rich. Houlihan did a reasonable job on TJ. Betts was great, Garlett was great, and Scotland was probably BOG with Juddy.

Some good calls here.

Sucked in McGrath.
Sucked in Sherman.
Sucked in Charman.
Sucked in Scott bros.
And the rest of ya.
And Fevola, even if you were injured???????????????, you should have been dropped because your efforts up here have generally been a disgrace.

Pros
- We won
- We won by 55 points
- Sauce, Hendo and Robbo did some smart quick work for the young 'uns.
- Eddie. Plz don't go to Gold Coast.
- Garlett and Yaz
- Judd very classy and appeared to get some support
- Welcome back Murph, we really missed you against Freo

Cons
- About 10 50M penalties paid. WTF? I reckon about 3-4 of them were warranted
- About 4 goals to Brisbane from the above
- Umps rubbish in 1st and 3rd quarters
- Horrible, horrible first quarter
- Walker, Russel, Thornton...massive clangers from first 2, barely noticed latter 2
- Setanta made some absolute blunders
- AJ, please stick to tagging and stop trying to be cute when you have the ball

Before people start potting Gibbs.
He got bronx cheers at the game

He is carrying an ankle injury and rolled it again early in the match.
Had it re taped and tried to get through.
Struggled to run and kick.
His last quarter was good.

good ten goal win after the break. we are out of form though. i think it starts with out backline. gibbs, russ, walker , jamo, thornton and aj all out of form. early they were all terrible but got better as the game went on. hopefully they can continue to improve next week. not just defending either. it is important that they run off and create in the correct manner as it sets up the rest of our game.

i didnt mind hampsons game. he showed a bit of muscle on occasion and made a bit of room for others. got himself into nice positions up forward but didnt look like taking a grab. a bit like henda a month back. in the end hampsons game was not great but no worse than jacobs first game back this year and look how he has improved with game time.

grigg will also be better for the run. we should judge him after he has strung a few games together.

loved Garlett Yaz and betts tonight.

similar to dogs and the hawks we can grow from that 10 goal scrappy win.

A win is a win.

Grigg was interesting... looked lively, but also very lost.
Got in and under a fair bit which was pleasing.

Is the lost look just a result of the obvious lack of game time/continuity?
Not sure.
Very tough call whether he stays in for the dogs game.

Hampson didn't have a good game, but I though we should have kicked it long to his contest much more, especially in the first third when we were struggling.
Will probably get the nod next week while Waite is still out.

Setanta didn't look sharp.
Did have a crack, and can't criticize him too much, but looked like he's lost a bit of confidence.
The clangers would reinforce that.

Was VERY pleased with the way Murphy worked his way back into it after a poor start.

Also was happy with Gibbs - he seems to go hardest when we are struggling and all around him are hanging their heads.
Not a flashy player but vital to our team.

Gibbs hurt his ankle against North Melbourne
has struggled through, was going to miss Freo but Murphy pulled out.
This match was too important. Judd lucky to come up with his ankle also.
It is getting betting but he rolled it 10 minutes in.
They spoke about it on radio after the match too.

Just got home in time to see the interview with Sam Jacobs after the game. The steam rising up from his red head was magnificent.

Extremely happy with sauce tonight. Played a great game and is severely underrated. Held his own tonight and I reckon he'll only get better.

What a win and about time!

While a victory would still have been on the cards, would have been interesting to see the margin should Judd have been suspended last week.

BTW, could have used him in Round 2 against this mob.

We need to get off that surface.
Brennan did an ankle just taking a kick after a free.

That Bris team was as bad as has been put on an AFL ground this year.

Robbo crashing in head first at clearances is better support for Judd than what others have offered in close.

1st year Lucas is already better than 4th year Grigg, not sure why he was dropped after 1 game back.

Those that expect it all just to click for Hammer as a fwd overnight are optomistic. He has alot to learn.

Eddie our best marking fwd with Patful taking him after McGrath had 1st go.

PLEASE...!

Can't go past this, Russell has been Fantastic kicking out this year, really helped to solve problems we've had in the past.

I agree juzzy. Made that blunder tonight when he was trying to be clever but on the whole he has been good this year.
Its not an easy gig and he is our best option.
There are no perfect kicker innerers in the afl. Every clubs kick in guy makes mistakes.

Cons

Terrible game to watch.
Umpiring was shocking due to over-reaction from the Baker incident. Sure, pay the frees against the taggers, but WTF were those 50s for ??? Geeesh............time you were sacked.
Hammer cannot mark to save his life. Anyone who ever says he should play FF is delusional. He's been there long enough now. I'd say flog him to GC while he's still got some currency
Grigg
AJ..very average disposal skills
JR...form has slipped. Played ok in patches but those skills, and THAT kick in :yikes:
Thornton
Setanta

Pros

Despite the above, we won :|
Next week we play the Scray, and on form we'll get flogged, so looking forward to a win

One thing to take from the game is that we pulled away in the end and the confidence in the playing group will be partly restored.

Other than that, we only did we had to to win.

I don't know how fit Setanta was. One of his chases early in the 1st qtr was just...un-Setanta like. He came to the bench looking buggered straight after.
