28 goals to this part of the year, just over 2 a game. I'd guess that he's kicked at least half of them in last quarters.

Discuss.

Its that elite fitness training he did while banished in the preseason it takes him 3 quarters to out run his opponent

nah seriously goes missing when the heat is on but when the game has lost its bite up pops Eddie the junk time goal specialist

He has been Ok but we be far better off with the 4 goals in the first

I'd say thats a very good question and it may even be more than half.

The question then is, what does that mean? He doesn't get it done when the game is on the line, he's better when the sting is out of it or is it his fitness allowing him to out last his opponant?

The breakup of his 28 goals is also interesting. 3 bags of five goals, a four goal effort and 9 goals in his other 9 games.

Another question I have regarding Eddie is his chasing and I considered again after reading this in the Pros and Cons thread.

Remember when that used to be Betts forte?

He clearly doesn't chase as much or as hard as he used to either.

Shows that while I reckon he has a bit of a niggle, his work rate has lifted. He's being rewarded for running the game out.

Makes some silly leads that get rewarded with a chop out, however.

Spot on though he's had shots early in games, he just hasn't converted. I'd love to see which quarter the majority of his points have come in.

how many points has he kicked before he finally gets the radar on to kick those goals?

Well you can look at it that way or you can say he was down early and never gave up. Mark Harvey's face showed that he thought we were in it.

almost the same amount of shots on goal in the first half as the second - the only difference was in the second half we kicked straight.

No doubt, not criticising as such - just feels like he kicks a lot of goals at the end, either when we've won (was it against St Kilda in Round 7 when he kicked 4 in the last quarter) or when we're surging (4 in the last for Round 13)? The North game in round 12 was the oddity to me as he kicked all or most of his goals early, keeping us in it then too.

A few points...1) His stat count is much higher (+25% on prior years) in 2010 and up at 15 or so a game:

http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php? ... 3A+E+Betts

...including 1 game of 21 and 4 x 19 this year.

And 2) his accuracy has been good over the past 3 weeks with 11 goals 3, improving on a pretty poor start to the year.

http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pg-c ... ward-betts

He is still rough at set shots and actively looks to offload them even within 35 say.

Id still say he has probably kicked 12-14 goals in the last quarter from memory.

Thanks to our old friend 'The Obscuratron', we can confirm that Betts has kicked 11 of 28 goals so far in 4th quarters.

I believe he should of kicked 7 in each quarter. Needs to be completely even, otherwise sack him. :screwy:

..it's strange, how so much of his work is either ignored, or missed.... ..he does a m0untain of work in the F50.. ..he's equal 2nd in the AFL for goal assists, and equal 5th in the AFL for score assists..

..he's our leading goal scorer, leading marks inside 50, 5th for contested marks and i'm not entirely sure but might also be leading tackles inside the 50 too..?..
