Judd defence is the easiest ever.
Take highlights of not just McPhee but the past months scragging and display.
Then just say add ... how can Judd be asked to explain this when none of the others have over the past month as illustrated!

As for Waite ... I'll turn my back on footy as well if he goes for that.

Mcfee got incredible latitude from the three blind mice and it is about time our big wigs did a Malthouse and forcefully asked dumbo Geitchen to explan the ineptitude of his troops in enforcing the rules. Forcing him to watch a replay of the game should embarrass him considerably. The three blind mice should be made to sit next to dumbo and explain their lack of action. Week in and week out the best players in the game get unfairly scragged and the two umpires who have nothing to do - do nothing. It is a disgrace.

even Mike Sheahan worried about Juddy.

As for waite, I agree with SurreyBlue, thought that was as soft as butter. I seen grannies at the supermarket bowl people over worse than that whenever a special is announce on the overhead speaker "free steak knives for the first 5 customers"

Posted this in the umps thread but http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/b ... -yp8w.html apparently we met with Gieschen last week and asked him to plz explain.

No mention of Judd's elbow in the article though, just Waite's bump.

Far better off going to the Herald Sun than to the umpires. And far better off doing so targetting the opposition you're about to play, rather than the one you've just played. There's no chance the umpires are going to remember McPhee's tactics by the next time we play them.

Mike Sheahan reckons Judd should have went and that it proves that the verdict proves he plays under different rules.

I love Juddy but I agree with Sheahan. Juddy is very lucky and if it was Barry Hall, he would have gone. You cant swing an elbow and open a blokes face up and not get weeks for it.
The MRP continue to leave themselves open to criticism with their ineptitude.

I wouldnt be surprised if Judd rang Pavlich to apologise. I understand he was frustrated but he's taken it out on a respected ball player.

I still don't get how striking someone with a closed fist is no longer a reportable offence.

MRP is too obsessed with all their new rules they have forgotten the basics.

Bad luck Mike

Somebody in the team should have taken it on to clean McPhee up at somepoint or at least get between Judd and McPhee. There is only one way to break hard tags and thats to hard tag the tagger.

Greg Denham spent an hour on SEN this morning talking about the Judd decision. Talk back, Carlton hating callers had a field day, even suggesting that the AFL intervene. Bulldogs supporters brought up the Collo citing Grant case but didnt realise that the tribunal found him guilty and not Collo.
I think Judd was a bit lucky and needs to curb his frustration.

Agree. Someone, anyone should have been onto him from the first bounce. Let him know he is going to be in for a tough night.

All i heard this morning was a lot of St.Kilda supporters on air and off diverting attention onto Juddy.
I like to think Juddy was not aiming for anyone's face.
I know he was frustrated...he's lucky...I'd like to see the heat back where it belongs.

They are good mates and own racehorses together along with Dennis Commetti.

Very lucky I thought not to be given at least a week or two. I'll take it though.

On the replay I reckon you can see Pav saying something along the lines of "what the F did you do that for?".

Wouldn't have been to good for Brownlow betting if the AFL rubbed Judd out

I tend to agree with Sheahan. How can you split someone open and then have it deemed insufficient force

From the top of the cheek upwards, the skin on the face/scalp is quite tight and very easy to split open with a simple knock. A simple swing of the arm in a sprinting motion would have been sufficient force to wound.

They don't look pretty because of the rich blood flow to that area also. The panel obviously have better biomechanical and medical advice than the average punter (or 'expert' football writer).

the thing that most shits me about this is that Judd's actually swung his fist to hit the arm holding him back - the elbow was accidental (and 'light')
nothing like Johnno's elbow the other night but the two are being compared as the same thing. I just wish commentators could look at the footage before making up their minds.
