Not like they didn't deserve it after their shithouse performance on Friday night...

Agreed the umpires were poor the other night but if this is true then its not a good look.

They should fine the official whoever it was and move on.

Is there any retribution for the umpire if he/she makes an incorrect decision?

Just say an umpire makes blatantly incorrect decisions all night. Are the players, coaches, crowd just supposed to happily accept that?

What are the consequences for the umpire? They need to be accountable for their job.

The umpiring was disgraceful, there's no doubt about it. But if this is true then it's definitely not a good look for our club. I think the best thing the club can do is get on the front foot with this and take their own action against the offenders. At least it will lessen the impact it has on the club as a whole, because it will show that this behaviour isn't tolerated.

We'd all love to abuse the umpires after Friday night's showing, but the reality is you just can't do it if you're in any official capacity.

Like the players their performance gets reviewed and like the players if they have a bad one they get dropped. The umpire that called Black's handball a throw recently got dropped. McLaren has been dropped this year already.

..they're protected, in the sense players/coaches can't publicly 'criticise or question'.. ..not without paying for it, at any rate.... ..however, there's definate avenues to make a complaint and honestly, who the hell is the property steward think he is anyway?, acting like that.. ..seriously amatuerish, and ought to get a severe dressing down, if they keep their position.. ..totally unprofessional, and makes the whole club look stupid, and very sore loser'ish..

He was just saying what the rest of us (and quite a few neutral supporters) thought of their performance.

Still not on though.

The club should pay his fine. And not apologise, just pay it and move on.

I'd like to buy the guy a beer.

These morons where brilliantly reeled in all week with the Harvey bullshit. They where caught hook line and sinker and we where too stupid to counter act when it mattered.
Well done to the BOOTSTUDDER ... the only one with any balls in the club!

They spelt it wrong. It's actually 'officious' :smoking:

Spoke to the property steward involved as i know him quite well. I thought it sounded wierd that he would spit at someone because i know that is something he wouldnt do. He assured me that this is a beat up and the ump got another thing wrong on friday night. He was spitting his gum out and one of the umpires obviously feeling a bit guilty from his shocking performance that night was looking around knowing he could come under fire caught a glimpse of the gum being spat and claimed it was at him.

Property guy is carlton through and through and has been there for years and is gutted he got fined.

Interesting its only the 2 senior umpires (Kennedy & McLaren) mentioned in dispatches about this "incident" - the junior umpire was probably too embarrassed about being associated with these 2 morons to want to put his name to this.

If McLaren's form is anything to go by he probably saw the Property Steward spit out his gum from about 100 metres away and assumed it was directed at him.

McLaren did his usual trick during the course of this game - fearing he was drifting out of the contest  he picked a free kick from 100 metres away so it wouldnt surprise me if he did the same with the Stimorol.

Gee Agro jnr...surprised you'd have enough history with these particular umpires given your tender years.

Don't get influenced by your old man...he can be bitter and twisted.

I am a junior umpire myself and am quite ashamed that I have to look at "role models" such as Kennedy, McLaren, Vozzo and Chamberlain et al.

At 17 I capable of forming my own opinion.
