I've been holding my tongue for a while now about this, but the severity of the problem seems to have gone up a bit in the last couple of weeks. Eddie Betts has the brothers mentality entrenched into his mind. Now, I have no problem with players having friendships with blokes from other clubs. But the last couple of weeks say to me that Eddie has a bit of an attitude problem at the moment. The pat on the head to Aaron Davey at quarter time was not on, and I applaud Robbo for telling him to pull his head in. But on Friday night after the game, Eddie was laughing and joking with Lindsay Thomas, after his club had lost an absolute monty of a chance to go 8-4.... There is no denying Eddie's performance in the game, he booted 5 goals and it was a good contribution from him. But, where was the hurt? Where was the disappointment? It certainly didn't seem like it phased him all that much. It reminded me of Fevola in 2008 when laughing and joking with Maxi and the boys after the Saints game. Save the friendships for off the field. Once our boys cross the line onto the arena, I expect them to respect the opposition, but not forget their purpose...to proudly represent the Carlton Football Club, and not give the opposition an inch. It's probably an overreaction, but the last couple of weeks have exposed this 'brothers mentality'. I'm getting a little concerned about it. Thoughts?
