You only have to look at the sustained success of the of the OZ cricket team for vindication. They do well and uncover some gems that may never have been discovered. They are tested regularly at the elite level and are groomed as such from all things from preparation to match day situation.

if you are not regularly in the dressing room with the big boys and in front of crowds on a regular basis then having to step up when the pressure is really on for a spot is difficult. This has merit for the young kids in particular. Getting picked and knowing you have a few weeks to go for it would be heartening. Then knowing you a re part of a rotations system would be less disheartening.

Sport has chnaged. Football has changed. It's a business and theses guys are an investment.

You don't throw a 21 year kid into chair a board meeting at BHP Billiton. He would take a few notes and get the coffee. Don't expect a young kids at AFL level to know it all and do it all. It takes time, experience and exposure to the whole process.
