Maybe this belongs in the Pros and Cons thread.

I forgot to set the recorder and tape the game. I'm happy I won't be tempted to watch the game again.

Well i am Gutted. How can we play so well against really good sides but play out worst game of the year against Shite sides. The only explanation is that we are Mentally Soft. Teams like Geelong even when they are not playing well find ways of fighting back. We Dont!

I hope last nights game Shuts those Browne lovers up, he is absolutely terrible. Has no composure, pulls out of contests, doesnt work hard, simply not up to AFL standard. Can't believe Ratts didnt move Armfield on Thomas.

Joseph's performance really disturbed me last night. He fumbled, lacked composure., got beat for pace, got hammered in the one on ones. He is just too one dimensional, needs to go back to the Magoos and get his hands on the ball 30 times

The BIGGEST CONCERN is that of the form of Kruezer, jeez i love this bloke but i am sorry he has been struggling big time, he is not making an impact and Jacobs has been playing much better than him. Can someone tell me what is going on?

Only positives of last night were Betts' return to form, Gibbs finally back in the middle and i really liked Hadley's game.

Spare a thought for my mate who came up from Geelong to join us. He's that mate you have who's, er, good at...stuffing things up.

He texted me prematch to say he'd missed the train & would get there at half time. He got to Melbourne (Southern Cross no less) at 8.40, got off the train & onto another & went to the MCG.

Realising it was a little dark (& quiet) he ended up walking all the way back to Etihad. When he got there at the start of the 4th he texted me saying he was in the Livewire Bar, where we'd arranged to meet before the game for a drink, asking me where we were.

He ended up taking his seat 10 min into the last qtr.

Was it his seat or did he choose the closest seat that had been vacated by a loyal Blues supporter?

If you take out the Cats and the saints the only other teams e have been able to beat is junk

our losses have all come from teams fighting for the bottom half of the eight with the exception of the pies -it show we are not as good as we think as we have been unable to beat a side that is around us on the ladder and the worring thing is wehave a shit load of games against these sides

we are still structually weak we really need Bower back and firing and this much talked about forward structure is rubbish we need to spend the rest of the year rejigging the forward line and yes that means send ing big Irish off to greener pastures - I said it would take about 8 rounds and right in que the last 4 have been total junk- 8 rounds of development wasted on a pipe dream - If he was only going to be a stop gap measure until Hendo or others develop then Cam Cloke would have been a better option

Not sure wether Waite is the answer but I know one thing he seems to kick goals when he is there but thompson was his direct opponent last night and ran off him with 29 possessions but as a very astute poster said here the other week Waite should never have to worry about and opponent

If Eddie Betts keeps being our go to man we are in serious trouble - The players are ignoring the big irish wether that is planned or lack of confidence in his ability i dont know but it is no good having a 200cm giant floating up forward and kicking it to a 170cm midget

North compressed the ground and we didn't take them on it appears that form some reason we struggle with in your face football and wilt at any sign of pressure - we smash them at the clearances only to turn the ball over

Interesting stat last night was the blues were no 1 in the comp for kicking effiecency bet that copped a hammering last night or is it skewed some what because we chip it around so much

any way you look at it they need to spend the week looking at themselves in the mirror and Ratts and the match committee need to to pick the best 22 players on his list not because player a plays a certain role

After a good nights sleep.................all I can think to say is the same thing I said to myself a hundred times throughout the game.......

HOW DARE THEY!!!!!!

How Dare They play such insipid football.
How Dare They play such panicked football
How Dare They show skills that were bordering on amateurish at best
How Dare They display about as much intensity as a week old wet lettuce
How Dare They play in such a selfish and lazy fashion

How Dare They do these things now when we have all seen what they are capable of producing.

The lack of Mental and Physical toughness is now the Elephant in the change room.

That sums it up pretty well - I'm sure all the other clubs have noted the lack of toughness across the group.

Will be a very challenging second half of the season.

These lapses are becoming a damning statistic for this playing group.

You play football predominantly to gain the ultimate respect of your peers.

Is it becoming a mundane chore for some of them?

Do some of them have enough desire to reach the ultimate?

You know it's bad when Cazzesman is fired up.

Have to agree here. Normally Cazz is always one to see the bright side.

This is bad.

As a conspiracy theorist, allow me to have my say.
North Melbourne, celebrating 25 years of Friday night footy took to the big stage last night against a much fancied opponent in Carlton. A big night for the club, where several of their past players came to join in the fun (or should I say chorus..). The game meant more than just four points to North. This was their only Friday night game for the year. The Kangaroos struggle in terms of revenue and attendances, so they needed to ensure that they put on a good show. Meanwhile, the AFL are sitting back and wondering that if North don't put on a good display, that North will not be warranted to be fixtured on Friday nights, and they will wilt away even more, asking for the AFL to put their hand in their pockets to help out financially.

So, the AFL enlisted the help of Scott McLaren to guide North Melbourne to victory, not only making it a romantic finish to the "25th Anniversary of Friday Night Footy", but also saving the greedy bastards that are the AFL from further putting their hand in their pockets to aid North's financial woes. As a result, the Kangaroos may get greater crowds in next week against Port seeing that they've beaten a quality side in Carlton, thus making it more revenue for the AFL.....

Effectively, Andrew Demetriou and his clowns have saved themselves money, but are poised to make more themselves. It was all a hoax, carefully engineered by the AFL.

Armfield had a stint on him. So did Thornton and Jamison. He was just to good on the night. Our whole backline was off last night.
