Good point. A greater access for lurkers exposes them to more google ad click opportunities.

Not sure on this guys; it used to just be the Stuff & Social sections that were hidden.

How are lurkers supposed to get a greater feel and attachment to this site if they can't see a great chunk of it to start with?

I reckon that's gotta be a winner BChucky.

I took a break from Talking Carlton for a good 5-6 months cause, put simply, i was sick of all the shit that was being dished out.

This is a forum, in which fellow Carlton fans can come and discuss all things Carlton related!

**NEWS FLASH**
We aren't always gonna agree with each other!
( I KNOW - shock horror huh).

But regardless of what you think of somebody else's opinion - it is, at the end of the day, THEIR opinion.............. It's what this site is for. Voicing your opinion.

Two things

#1. I think a lot of people on here have been attacked on this site because of their opinion.

And.............

#2. I think a lot of people on here are too quick to attack before considering #1 above.

Not sure whats hidden at the moment, but pretty certain training is and maybe recruitment.

Its a move to encourage people to join if they want to view the content.

I'm not sure higher volume and traffic necessarily means higher revenue either, not in the kind of volume that will fund the site anyway.

Good discussion here anyway, keep it going

can they see the headings but cant access the forums?

cos if they cant see the headings - then they wont realise they are missing anything by not signing up ( apart from the ability to post )

Yep, this and other reasons are why I have steered clear...

In relation to facebook... there was a Talking Carlton fan page, but if you want to get people via facebook, why not just jump onto one the the many 'Carlton football Club' pages and put up a link there.

No, but the steady poster might be abit annoyed that they cant access it without logging in. CSC tried it earlier in the season (to switch off access) but reverted to open access. I cant see why its a problem. We're not special enough to think that denying access to thoughts of posters on the basis of login. We're not that good.

Presently they can see
Welcome to TalkingCarlton
TalkingCarlton (main page)
TalkingIssues (can't access though, just a heading)
TalkingFevola

We've changed it a number of times in the past and there were reasons for doing so. Perhaps leaving the headings is a good idea (not sure of its possible) with a message saying 'content is only available to members' when they click on it.

seems pointless to me to hide something to entice someone to sign up - yet they dont know what they are missing ....soooooooo...whats the incentive?

I've read everyones posts here and I'm not here to give ideas on how to keep this site going (not pc/business savvy  ) Just giving my opinion. I have been here for a while and I VERY RARELY posted for the fact that there were certain individuals on here that would be SOOOO quick in letting people know that the view they have is she-ite. It got real nasty so I stayed away for a LONG time. A lot of the posters here are not stupid yet were (maybe still are, I don't know. The worst offender seems to be gone ) treated like dribbling imbeciles with not a single rational thought in their head. I like it here because we may be many but we are still here for one reason and one reason alone. CARLTON . If we need to whip the hat around let me know coz I'm sure I can find a couple of coins hidden at the back of the couch to keep this place going.

p.s. I wanna post more but there is still that fear that I may have to walk the plank for disagreeing with someones opinion.

The site's over-moderated.

I tune in to read the musings of the intelligent and informed and more often than not find the few who are left caught in a cross fire of stupidity with the moronic and uninformed.

Just let it go and see if the cream rises to the top again.

You're all [REDACTED].
