Thought Russell's handling of the ball in the wet was great today. Not huge huge numbers but one grabbed it plenty of times.

Not a chance; it'll be throw out before it even reaches the tribunal.

I hope so Lurker, I thought he was going for the mark (no replay shown at the ground). He needs the Hille Defence.

Gerald Waitely on ABC said he was looking at weeks  .

Plenty of good footage of the unavoidable contact - nothing to worry about

Who was doing special comments today? Was it Harley?
Because before the game he showed his teams that COULD NOT win the flag.
We were there, and Brisbane were not.
Surprised me, to be honest.
If i had to put my house on us or Bris winning the flag I would honestly go for us.
They're gettin a royal touch up from the roos at the moment too.

Luke Darcy - but he did sau hugely unlikely for Bris with all stars needing to align and Fev and Browne to go nuts

Respect Luke Darcy but he's wrong. We are a chance. Unlikely, but possible.

Started well, we dropped off and were challenged. The good thing is we responded. Our good players stepped up and got us over the line in the end. I also thought it was good to have a decent hit out in the wet, it may come in very handy later in the year.

All in all it is good to get the 4 points and move onto next week where we can really put our claims on a top 4 spot.

This is exactly what I thought. Yes it does say something that we didn't bury them completely, we faltered but we did step up and win it and like the Port game it's a good mental strength booster.

It will be interesting to see who's in and out next week - poor Irish had a shocker especially when it got wet.

Umpires were @#$%&! useless overall - all those stupid free kicks in the first quarter set the tone for the game and it seemed that we only had to look at the Melbourne blokes in the third quarter to get a free paid against us.

Shitty weather, I swear it dropped about 5C over the half time break.

Graeme Bond on 3AW, who knows a bit about Tribunal matters, and is a very good judge, said in his opinion, Waite will be cleared of the Rough Conduct charge.
He was attempting to take the mark and was in the air and contact was unavoidable,.

Probably a question for any of the Melbourne people who might read this, but why aren't the Dee's playing a second ruckmen?

I know it was a wet day, but are their big blokes injured or something? I just would have thought that if you were developing a team for the future, why not a second ruck. It risks injuries to these non rucks as well who aren't used to the techniques involved.

I'm a bit bemused, but not for the first time in my life
They're just trying to justify why they'd take Watts instead of Natanui. Seriously...................................................................because their ruck division is so red f*cking hot. Just ask Mike Sheehan  Copped himself the money shot when writing the article in today's paper

I thought the fact that we played dumb and lazy football in the 3rd quarter was more of a factor than the weather.

Played a good 3 quarters and in the end did well in the conditions.
I was so proud of Simmo's hard work in the 3rd quarter when the Dees were looking dangerous, he was the only one I noticed that was still running hard, getting in there... he just had no support.

I liked T-bird in the forward line and I would like to see more of him up there, especially when Bower returns.
I also thought that it was a good moving Eddie out of the forward line, he was getting smashed by the big tall defenders in Melbourne back line, but once he was moved up the ground a bit, he was able to run, tackle and have a real impact on the game, then kick our sealers ;-)
Walker is a champion.
AJ is amazing, I love watching him play.
Russel gets better and better.

I thought our pressure was good, effective disposals (until the ball got just a wee bit wet haha) AND I only saw us hold the ball up once :D haha. YAY!

Next week, I want to see 4 quarters of good, quality football.

How about

Betts soccering off the ground in the F50 instead of bending over the 30cm required to pick the ball up. He should be better at ground level in the wet than just about anyone of the park.

Not bothering to stand the mark when Jones kicked his goal.

Thornton and Setanta jogging next to Judd as he ran the ball out of the D50, instead of doing something useful like putting on sheperd.

Garlett chasing down Bruce but then inexplicably not bothering to tackle him

Russell kicking into the man on the mark cause he didn't go back far enough. Scully cleared the ball from the ricochet resulting in a goal. If I was being really picky I'd add Russell going for the mark and spilling it instead of spoiling in the same piece of play.

Maybe just Maybe bcoz Jamar is rucking brilliantly ATM, and he has the tank to go most of the game.

Credit to Jamar his palming is top notch. He was too strong for MK today, Sauce held his ground better.

Too strong for two rucks, yet too weak to get his team to victory.

If they had NicNatJam they may have got within 15 points, though I doubt it.

Jamar is okay at best. Ordinary at most.

Jamar is good with his tapwork, around the ground not his forte.

Watch the replay and see how easily he got rid of MK and palmed beautifully to a team mate.

I dont wanna get into a NIcNat v Watts debate....its irrelevant.

I could watch the replay, but then I'd just be thinking 'how old is that wanker rukman for Melbourne comapred to our young guns?', and why would I bother doing that?
