Brock going out, if dropped, is funny after media build-up.

Probably good though, gives them less reason to fire up - because lets be honest, when West Coast fired up for Judd it was more than compensated for by the fact we had Juddy...McLean hardly giving us much at the moment. Happy with Hads staying in, we look a much better team with him in there.

Hendo, though I like the look of him, probably didn't do enough to demand a spot last week

Happy with the changes. We get back 2 experienced, senior players.

Both were always going to be automatc selections, so the question was who to drop.
Hendo's last 2 weeks were great I thought, and a big improvement on his games prior to beng dropped, but I still think this is the right move. Give him a taste as often as possible, but right now, Waite just offers more up forward, and you couldn't drop Setanta obviously. The only way he could stay in for this one would be as a defender taking probably tbirds spot, but thats another story all together Very happy with how Hendo is travelling though.

Again, someone had to make way for Hoops. Mclean has been very meh so far this season. He seems slow.. not just foot speed slow, but sluggish. Slow reactions, slow thought process etc. He may still be carrying injuries, not too sure. I was in favour of the trade and hope he can return to his form of a few years ago but I honestly prefer Hadley in the side atm. Don't forget how important Hadley was for us in parts of last year. I really felt that our chances were slim after he broke his arm, and we really missed him in the finals against the lions. I think Hadley seems to be a smarter, more creative footballer (based on what I've seen of Brock this year) and I think he needs a solid run in the seniors to see what he can produce. Grigg is also banging the door down for a similar position. Is he out of favour? GC17??

Happy that Robbo is still there. Love the way he goes about it. Happy Joey is still there. Just hope he shows what he's really capable of before its too late/

No shock to see Brock dropped, as he's obviously hampered by injuries. But Hendo is a bit strange, as thought he played well last week and is on the verge of having serious impact.

Thought that Browne or Ando may have been the ones to give way for Waite, but the MC have been pretty good this season :smoking:

Fair enough.
I think that was sometning the match committee, Ratts etc would have said in the first couple of rounds or prior.

But, what if Ratts and O'Reilly are trying to play him (or other Demons selections they've made) in an attempt to play them in form, perhaps to save face?

I understand your point, but I think their treatment of Warnock shows they are prepared to select players on form. Sure, Warnock isn't from the Demons, but it's a similar situation where they made a big play for him and gave up plenty for him and his form didn't justify his presence in the side any longer. Look, I'm not rapt about the way Brock has gone so far, but I think he's still a bit impeded by injury. I thought he was ok yesterday, good against the Tigers and really good against the Lions. The thing about the Tigers and Lions games is that his body seemed right and he was moving freely.

The real question here is whether Brock's form warrants selection for the seniors or the Ants.

Yes the MC have made the hard call (what seems) reluctantly with both Warnock and Johnson, and I am suggesting the time is now overdue for Brock to find form and/or get his body right in the Ants, because he just doesn't seem to be in form imo; assuming my perception of his form is correct.

Well, looks like the MC are willing to make the tough call on Brock, even though I think the timing is a little strange. I didn't think he was so bad last week, and was just coming back from injury.

Me too, but he's young with plenty of good times ahead. He can go and dominate the VFL and get some real confidence.

Pressure's on the Tbird.

couldn't agree more - melbourne will run thornton around like a headless chook - and what sort of message does it send to henderson who can play forward and back and has more fizz than T-bird will ever have.

Not sure why people are surprised Henderson is omitted.

I agree the kid is playing OK and developing nicely and that development might be accelerated playing at the highest level.

But at the moment Jarrad Waite is our best option at CHF and Carlos is doing the job at FF .... so where can you play Hendo?

Those who want to play a third tall up forward haven't been paying attention to what has been working well for us. And there will be those who say play him down back (probably instead of Thornton). He is not a better backman than Thornton; and how does that help his development as a CHF anyway?

I think this is good selection .... maintains good team balance with best available players. Hendo's time will come.

As for McLean ... doesn't seem right physically to me but whether due to injury or form I don't think this is a surprising omission. Hadley was better than McLean last week.

Very confident this week after those changes.

I can't see him staying in the side once Bower the Power is back.

Agree.
Hendo doesn't deserve to be dropped but that's the great thing about having an improving list. Waite had to come in, so someone had to go.
I see Hendo as a forward not a back so I'm happy with the change as he was the tall frward that had to go. is time will come soon though

Pity we don't have army back as Melbourne have plenty of pace to trouble us - even with Woenaeamirri out - and Army is our man for the blistering fast forwards.

Happy with those changes though wish Brock The Rock was fit

Expect next week Bower replaces Thornton, and Armfield replaces Browne

I'd rather see Henderson playing forward for the Ants than back for the seniors. Let him master one trade before developing the second.

Changes are a bit of a suprise...

Ultimately though the IN'S improve the team taking those spots...and if next week Bower and Army take thorntons and browne spots we go from strength to strength.

Mclean's form over the season has been very disappointing. He has had a bad injury histiory so it is no surprise (except to those who decided to recruit him) that that would continue. They need to get him fit. Each time he plays badly we are told he was injured. He misses a game comes back, same thing happens. The first thing is to get him fully fit, if possible. If he is fully fit, then we made a bad mistake recruiting him, if he is not fit then what sort of medical did we give him? Really having he and Warnock in the seconds is not a great look for our decision makers. Hopefully McLean will do something impressive soon. He needs to. Thought Hendo was stiff as he competed well last week, but he is a work in progress.

Can't believe we traded a a first round for Mclean.
Such as a waste of a pick
