I would prefer 5 - 10 carlton blokes in the second best afl team of the week than 1 or 2 in the first.

B: Chris Newman (Richmond), Chris Tarrant (Fremantle), Andrew Walker (Carlton)

HB: Bryce GIBBS (Carlton), Ben Stratton (Hawthorn), Brendon Goddard (St Kilda)

C: Leigh Montagna (St Kilda), Brent Stanton (Essendon*), Dan Hannebery (Sydney Swans)

HF: Kepler Bradley (Fremantle), James Podsiadly (Geelong), Dale Thomas (Collingwood)

F: Jeff Garlett (Carlton), Jack Riewoldt (Richmond), Lindsay Thomas (North Melbourne)

FOLL: Shane Mumford (Sydney Swans), Shane Tuck (Richmond), Luke Power (Brisbane Lions)

I/C: Gary Ablett (Geelong), Trent Cotchin (Richmond), Ben Hudson (Western Bulldogs), Nick Dal Santo (St Kilda)

Write Up

Andrew Walker (Carlton) - The Blues look a much more balanced team with Walker streaming from defence. Walker had 29 touches, eight marks, and drove the ball inside 50 on five occasions to cause plenty of headaches for the Eagles.

Bryce GIBBS (Carlton) - One of the best users of the footy in the game almost got leather poisoning as he earned a career-high 45 disposals. Set up numerous attacking raids, took 12 marks and kicked a goal as well.

Jeff Garlett (Carlton) - Garlett won huge praise from coach Brett Ratten after his side’s win over the Eagles. The small forward had 14 disposals and booted two goals, but it was his pressure that set him apart. He had eight inside 50s and, more significantly, laid nine tackles to keep the Eagles on their toes all day.

Carlton tally at the end of Round 10

Chris Judd - 4
Jeff Garlett - 3
Andrew Walker - 2
Eddie Betts - 2
Matthew Kreuzer - 2
Jordan Russell - 1
Andrew Carazzo - 1
Bryce GIBBS - 1

You have to ask the question. Why hasnt Garlett received a NRS nomination yet? He was in the team of the week this week, (Dustin Martin wasnt) and has been twice before.

Andrew Walker (Carlton) - Walker’s dash again proved vital as Carlton set up its win with a dominant first half. He ran off whenever the opportunity arose and finished with 25 touches, pumping the ball inside 50 on three occasions.

Jarrad Waite (Carlton) - It wasn’t a day for taller players at a wet and windy MCG but Waite was terrific in the circumstances. Stationed at half-forward, he finished with 10 marks, laid six tackles, booted three goals and had a hand in several others. His long-range, bouncing goal was a highlight.

And he is equal second on our list...

Amazing effort.

1AW would have been in line against Geelong as well before injury.

He's well and truly arrived this season. It's great to shut all the doubters up who seemed to overlook his injuries when judging him.

For a few years I have had a rather blueman like preminition that Walks will win a Norm Smith during his career...

Where was Houlihans inclusion in this weeks team of the week. Had the most votes off the coaches award, should be in surely and to also miss out on a nomination for goal of the year for this week too. Maybe keogh is judging both these awards.

Eddie Betts (Carlton) - Just the 12 disposals for Eddie, but they were 12 efficient touches. On a pretty dreary night at Etihad Stadium, Betts provided some pizzazz with six marks, five tackles and, crucially, 5.1 to lead his team to a comfortable win. In the absence of a dominant big man inside 50, he’s becoming the go-to man for the Blues in attack.

Write Up

Kade Simpson (Carlton) - Shaun Grigg helped keep the Blues in it early, but Simpson led the charge after the break. The hard-runner had been down in recent weeks as oppositions turned their attention to him, but the Eagles were powerless to stop his drive as he won 33 possessions (12 contested), used his penetrating left boot well and assisted in four Blues goals.

Chris Judd (Carlton) - No doubt some more votes for the 2004 Brownlow Medallist, who shrugged off a sore chest to play his best match in several weeks. Judd won 27 touches -12 contested - had six clearances, seven inside 50s and booted a goal to provide the inspiration for his men.

Jeff Garlett (Carlton) -With Mark McVeigh doing a pretty good job on Eddie Betts, Garlett became the go-to man and finished with six goals. While his tackling and pressure has been a feature for much of the year, he was rewarded on the scoreboard on Friday night with 6.2 from 16 possessions, his goals coming from a mixture of great roving and clever leading.

Robbie Warnock (Carlton) -The Blues are still missing Matthew Kreuzer, but Warnock’s performance against Bombers duo David Hille and Paddy Ryder was as huge as the man himself. The former Freo giant is showing great signs. He had 10 touches but 29 hit-outs - including some crucial clearances at the start of the final term - to get the momentum rolling for Carlton.

Carlton tally at the end of Round 19

Chris Judd - 5

Eddie Betts - 3
Matthew Kreuzer - 2
Jordan Russell - 1

And this is why Jeff Garlett should win the NRS. Name another nominee who's been rated as one of the best 22 of the round 4 times.

And this is why people should hold off on Andrew Walker for a while. He's come of 2 injury-ravaged seasons, and yet still managed to be rated as one of the best 22 of the round 3 times. His form's been poor recently, but it was very good earlier in the year. He'll never be an elite ball user, but he's got the kind of elite athleticism we need.

No doubt Jeff deserved his nomination but FULL-FORWARD!!!!!

A 70kg FF, bit different to Fev who looks about 140kg at the moment.
