Waite for T-Bird gives us versatility at both ends.

From the injury report Houlihan, Armfield and Yarran will be fit and available this weekend.
Waite will return from suspension.
Bower and Lucas will be another week.

Assuming all are picked then I'd go:

IN: Waite, Houlihan, Armfield, Yarran

OUT: Anderson, Browne, Thornton, McLean

As mentioned McLean will be selected against his old team if available, so I'm expecting Hadley to be dropped if all 4 are brought back in.
I just hope we only select fit players who are well and truly over their niggles (and they all should by now).

Who goes when Bower and Lucas are back?
If Robbo is still firing next week, then he aint going to make way for Lucas.

I'd say Hendo's spot would be precarious when Bower returns.
And I'd drop McLean for Hadley if Brock plays another average game against his former team and if Hadley continues the form displayed against WCE. If the MC wanted more pace I'd consider Lucas ahead of both Hadley and McLean.

Can't wait for Hampson and Austin to start knocking on the door.
Especially Hampson....salivating......pressure on Sauce to keep performing against Jamar.

Blues should win by 40 points if not more after letting an opportunity to increase % against the WCE slip.

Pressure should be on the players now to perform with so much competition, any complacency like we showed against the Eagles and your out.

I may be the only one here, but I hope Joey keeps his place. I still think stringing together 8-10 games will help him feel at home and do his confidence the world of good.

He's very good at filling space and getting in front of the big forwards to spoil, has plenty of courage, is versatile, a team player (saw him pick up Cox and Natanui when they went forward a number of times and covered until Jamison was able to switch) and I've been amazed at Bullant games at the amount of leadership and direction he provides. I even noticed him starting to direct teammates on Sunday.

Good post TBB.

I too would like to keep Joey in the 22. I feel he's really stepped up this year. He seems more composed.

Maybe we hold back Armfield's return for 8-10 weeks, or even Houla. Perhaps we can hold back Bower if Ando is taking on the tall timber?

It's a tough team to break into let alone hold a position. You can't get 28 into 22, nor 23 into 22. I know you know that.

I think our form against the Hawks was partly due to the huge injury list and we really did stretch our list to the depths of the 'developing'.Nevertheless, I still believe that with a fit list, players 22-28 are AFL ready, and Ando is one of them.

Pressure for spots....I love it....when we're winning.

Nup, sorry, Hadley came in last week, and although didn't have a blinder, he was far more constructive coming straight back into the side than Brock has been in past 10 rounds or how ever many he's played this year. Brock's had far too many chances, sentimentality needs to be put aside.

I think you'll find bondi agrees with you. I thought Haddles did wel on the weekend but Mclean's 6 or 7 tackles were important - I just wish he'd dish the ball off a lot quicker.

I'm another fan of the lad, he's definitely in the 25 for mine. He needs some decent game time, as many of the younger ones do. Had it at the start of the year and was looking comfortable (before injury I think). I see him as part of the new breed of young ones there: keen as anything, fit, good physicality, and willing and able to learn. He's JR two years ago with less clangers along the way. He's the sort of player we need to replace the likes of Scotland and Houlihan post their retirement.

I liked the way we rotated Haddles and Brock.
Given a few more weeks in they'd probably both be great.
Nice problem to have.
Ditto with Ando and Browney...there were things to like about both of their games too.
Hendo continues to improve...
Can't pretend to guess what they'll do.
The injury list was updated (the one woth the link posted..)says Scotto is fine..which is great...because he has been fabulous.
I love Mitch on-field...so entertaining, and happy to suffer his mistakes for now, because of his sheer exuberance..and great developing talent.
Hope Yaz will be back...because I think Eddie is better with both his buddies playing.
Just so excited about this team.
Thanks blueboys.
No nervous nelly in sight for me this weekend....I just know we we will win...and not because I'm dissin' the D's...no way..they are amazing..
but we are a growing force as a team..the players know it..and we,the fans, are just starting to believe again too.

Brock's tackling isn't the issue, same with Bentick.

Brain speed or hand speed or leg speed is.

If he can improve the 2 former weaknesses at the very least, I think he'll be a gem in the engine room.

I was sitting up behind the interchange gates and from where I was sitting, I'm not sure they were rotating. At some points both Haddles and Brock were on the park together. Sometimes they changed over, but I saw Haddles rotate with Judd and Murph far more often. Maybe it was part of the whole midfield rotation set-up.

Agree Bondi, if we were picking slow players who could tackle then Bentick would have stayed on the list. Mclean is okay at tackling but not as good as Bentick, and he has the same rugby player style of getting the ball, getting tackled and forcing another ball up. We traded for a guy who could get the ball out of contests not force additional ball ups. We had that with Bentick and he was delisted because he wasn't good enough. Whichever way you look at it McLean has been a great disappointment for an experienced 100 gamer who was cherry picked by the club and cost us a high draft pick. Is he any better than AB, or Daniel Harris who was delisted or Shane Tuck who the Tiges would have traded for pick #172, or Hadley? He needs to be a lot, lot better than them. He needs a few weeks in a row, but if he is still average in a month, I'd expect him to be dropped and those making the decision to recruit him to be under the pump. Together with the two draft picks we used to recruit a second ruckman for the Ants, I begin to wonder if we are visiting the 1990s and such coups as Davenport (Sts got up Barry Hall n with that pick). Mansfield (Cats got Chappy with one of those picks), O'Reilly and another chronically injured midfielder - Mick McGuane

Do we have guys at the club who watch all the other teams so we make really good informed decisions on trades? Mucking up a trade can cost a flag. Many a flag has been lost for the want of a couple of players.

oh..ok...didn't notice them on field together so much...but I guess I'm saying I hope there is a way to keep them both in..or is that impossible?
Reason being that it frees up Juddy and Smurph to run and carry on the outside..and that is really something exciting.
Then again, not hatin' on any team members right now..so might just be my rose tinted glasses.

I think this will be a great game and don't for a second think it will be a stroll in the park. I reckon they will throw everything at us in the first quarter as far as their leg speed and endurance is concerned in the midfield. If they get in front early it will be interesting to see how the game unfolds. I expext them to run out of legs later in the game and for us to have a reasonable win but it is interesting to see a bit of cockiness creeping into this site. If the players turn up with the same attitude some of the posters here have, we might just get a fright.

CARLTON will regain Jarrad Waite and Ryan Houlihan for Saturday's clash with Melbourne.

Waite has missed the past two weeks through suspension while Houlihan has missed the same period with a hamstring strain.

....

Important defender Paul Bower will have a test on his troublesome quadriceps muscle, but Chris Yarran (thigh) and Kane Lucas (hamstring) will miss at least one more week.

Heath Scotland hobbled off the field favouring an ankle late in Sunday's win over West Coast, but will take his place in the side.
