Melbourne are paying $3.50 for the win.
I'm gonna back them. I think they are far better than what they are making out to be. Was smart to rest Scully & trengove from the Geelong mauling on saturday. They will be fresh from the resting.
Melbourne are no longer the pushovers everybody assumed they would be. In fact, they could even be a chance for the finals at this stage??????
Hopefully we gain back Houlihan, Bower and Yarran from injury.
INS:-
Waite, Houlihan (if Fit), Bower (if fit), Yarran (if fit)
Wouldn't be getting too carried away with Melbourne just yet. True, they have drastically improved this season and they are a dangerous team who we shouldn't be underestimating by any stretch. You're right that this Saturday will be no walkover. If the boys don't come switched on and ready to play, then we will get pantsed. Having said that, Melbourne are not yet a finals team. I would say the Demons are a bit more advanced than what we were in 2007, but a bit less of what we were in 2008.
Still 11 weeks in the season to go, they have a young developing side and it's only natural for them to tire. If we remember back to 2008, Kreuzer was in his first year and tired out towards the end. It happens with a lot of first year players, and Kreuz didn't make his debut until round 3. Not sure they can keep up this winning form for much longer with such a core of young first and second year players. The way to play Melbourne is to be physical right from the first bounce. We have the advantage of the more mature bodies on our side, and the boys must use it to intimidate the young Melbourne players.
It's very pleasing that we have Waite back in this week because he's never afraid to show some physical presence on the field. One thing that stood out to me in the West Coast game (and to an extent, the Hawks game) was that we were missing a bloke up forward who can take a grab. Waite is that man, and if he can show the same form he gave us against the Saints, then Melbourne will have a few headaches.
It is a danger game, but Melbourne have more worries than us heading into the match.
