Ratts also strongly hinted to Grigga coming back. Sure, his prep is not ideal after 3 weeks out, but his Ants form was pretty good pre his injury. The MC must see him as better than the alternatives, fair enough. The kid can play, we need to have another look at him.

If JK is on the money re Army, I see it like this:

Walks for White
Houla for Yarran
Grigg for Johnson
Browne for Army

Kerr for Yarran if no Houla.

Where this leaves Brock, I'm not sure. Would rather Grigg at this stage given its @ Etihad and they both have similar iffy fitness levels.

You'd think it would be McLean for Johnson and Grigg for Army

Would they risk three "ins" with questionable fitness levels?

Is Brock that far ahead of Browne at this stage?

Well they've said he was ready to play against the Hawks but gave him an extra week. I'm sure after some disappointing games pre-injury Brock would be switched on regardless of having a week in the 2s to get some touch

going into the game with so many underdone or 50/50 players so to speak (if they do play) like yarran houlihan johnson mclean walker could backfire and it usually does.i hope not but i just get this feeling that late in the game it may play a pivotal role in the result

Grigg, Davies & Hadley look like they are insurance for Houlihan, Walker & McLean respectively.

As good a squad as we can hope for at present. Might be exposed by a small forward or two.

EDIT: No chance they'll drop Nicnat for anything other than injury DN; they can throw him up forward and stretch us.

Interesting bench with...

Walker - underdone
Houlihan - injury cloud
McLean - underdone
Hadley - underdone
Grigg - underdone
Davies - debut

Having said that, under the circumstances, that's just the way it is.

Agree, that is a worry. You can carry one underdone player, but two or more is a big risk. That's why Davies has a fair chance of playing I reckon.

all you need to win a game of footy is 22 fit, hungry, switched on and committed players.

.....i'm happy with whoever plays under the circumstances.......provided they come with the above! :fight: :fight: :fight: :fight:

Wow, how much can a side change in a couple of weeks ? That backline is so different to what most would say is our best. Would love to see Walks get a go but can't expect too much after his break. Good to see Davies banging on the door.

Why the flower so many quad injuries ? Must be the most in the league. Think we'll win purely on being pumped after our woeful effort last week, but it'll be interesting.

Reminds me of when we played WC in Melb last yr, we were coming of AAMI belting by Crows and Waite out (injured).

We won by 7 goals, but I'll settle for a little less this yr.....

Re carrying "unfit" players, Bower came in after 4 weeks v Pies and was nearly our best. I have faith in Tex, great athlete and good pre-season. Grigg out for 3 weeks, can't see that being too big an issue if he's rotating off the bench either.

I reckon we're stretching it, but we'll get through. WC were piss poor last week, no Glass and they looked to be pretty rudderless. Think no Scarlett when we played Cats. The team they lost to has hardly been on fire, either.

Blues by 18 pts.

That's why I'm sorry they didn't give Wiggo a run. He's not fashionable at the moment, and truth be told I wouldn't have him in my best 22 given a full list, but we're along way off a full list at the moment and from what I've heard he's been going pretty well with the Ants. One thing for sure - you know he's going to give it a real go.

Ditto London

I look at that team we have named and there's something strange about it

Blue Dave sums it up pretty well with this:

Quote:
Walker - underdone
Houlihan - injury cloud
McLean - underdone
Hadley - underdone
Grigg - underdone
Davies - debut

So as long as....see london's post...I'm happy...sorta :?

I'll leave it to the MC. I'm sure Houla will be right; he didn't rip anything, just tightness.
As for the others I just don't know.
Davies might get a call up. Plenty of reasons to play him and plenty on the flipside.

We have to wait and see if Thornton plays forward. If he does, he's playing for his future I reckon, with Waite, Bower, Walker coming back. It'll be either punt on Hendo or Thornton when those mentioned return to the 22.

WE HAVE TO WIN THIS ONE. ....and we should with monsters like Hansen and Hansen out of their team this week.

We've got JUDD, KRUEZER, MURPHY, GIBBS, RUSSELL, SCOTLAND, JACOBS, CARROTS, SIMMO, BETTS definetely playing and SETANTA to have a blinder. That should help.

NTTAWWT :sly:

err, anyway, let's hope Jamo and Tbird have a good day if our midfield have an average day

Nice to see Browne in the side this week. Should be raring to go!

Nah.
McLean and Walker are both very fit and have only missed 3 & 4 matches respectively.
Houlihan won't play unless he is 100%.
I agree however that both Grigg and Hadley would best be suited to a match in the Bullants to get some match fitness.

Looking at that bench, it seems to be Davies Grigg and Hadley are likely to make way. Unless Houlihan isn't right... they wouldn't have named Walker if he wasn't right, would they? I'm no doctor, but I would have thought they'd know fairly early in the week if a broken bone is mended or not.

I think it's like the Essendon* flu. Probably doesn't have much correlation with their real injuries.
