FFS

The Gods are just throwing us challenges. Bring 'em on.

So 4 out???? We're decimated by injury again.

If so, McLean and Houlihan are no brainers if fit (given Hadley is out).

I'm guessing the other 2 are any of:
Wiggins (doubt it)
Tiller (doubt it)
Davies (doubt it)
Kerr (named emergency last week)
Browne (named emergency last week)
Fisher (just coming back from serious knee injury, hasn't played a game)

Surely Walker wouldn't be called up straight up. I just can't see that happening. Same with Fisher. Both out for too long.
If Browne doesn't get further than emergency, then I'd say he's not seriously considered as AFL material by the MC, overrated by some posters and he's probably GC bound. Either way, imo it looks like Browne is a scaping from the bottom of the barrel.

At times like this I get so disappointed in Waite's lack of discipline.

On a positive note, it's good to know we are starting to get players back in the next 2 weeks.

With our poor performance last week and injury situation, can't say I'm confident about this game.

Here's hoping we get a much better performance this week. Going to need it imho as WCE will fancy their chances I reckon.

Great to have players coming back in the coming weeks. Hopefully we don't drop these seemingly winnable games in the meantime.

Would it be right to suggest you are usually on the money? Because I'm not sure and that seems pretty convincing.

..WCE aren't a good running team, we coulda really used Army's pace and line breaking ability off the HBF..

The racehorse Brock is back! He'll tear it up on a fast track like Etihad. Let's hope he is actually uninjured and plays a halfway decent game. We gave up a lot for this guy, we gave him a medical (apparently) even tho he seems to have chronic hip probs, and our two senior coaches Ratts and Reilly have coached him, so start delivering Brock, because Demons supporters haven't been able to wipe the smile off their faces since the trade.

We need our best 22 out there and that isn't going to happen. We must win the midfield. We lack height in defence, don't know how TBird will go against Josh K. (Kennedy not Kaplan!)

We really need to beat the sides belwo us otherwise the wins against the good sides are a little wasted. Forgiveable ag the HAwks as they are way better than their ladder position, but the Weagles are genuinely an ordinary side. Lets make them look ordinary. Pity the Ants didn't play last week. I wouldn't mind Wiggo back, at least he gives grunt and toughness. Love Grigg to get fit and in form, he really needs to start fulfilling the promise he showed a few years back. Army is a big loss.

Please bring in Austin!

my suggested changes:

IN: McLean, Houlihan, Austin, Browne
OUT: Johnson (inj), Yarran (inj), White (inj), Armfield (inj?)

If Austin isn't fit perhaps we'll see Wiggins come in as a plan B if Thornton is struggling and we can then choose to throw Lachie or Wiggler back

I would like to see Davies get a game, but my guess is that Browne will get the nod.

I'll be surpised if they risk Austin or Walker.

This is such a bug opportunity to put a 2 game gap between us and the teams outside the 8.
Realistically I expect Bombers, Demons, Lions and North all to lose.

So if we can grit our teeth and grind out a win we should be well set up for a run to the finals.

Walker to return

http://www.carltonfc.com.au/news/newsar ... fault.aspx

Quote:
"It is a big boost and I think it's a credit to Andrew with his rehab and what he's done to just keep up with his knowledge of football," Ratten said from Visy Park on Thursday.

"He's been at most opposition games to have a look with the coaches so I think it's been a real credit to him."

The Blues suffered three injuries in the heavy loss to Hawthorn - Chris Johnson (wrist), Simon White (knee) and Chris Yarran (thigh) - but the overall injury outlook is promising as the team embarks on the critical mid-section of the season.

"Shaun Grigg will probably come back in after three weeks out," Ratten said. "Brock McLean will be pretty much in the mix as well with Grigg and Richard Hadley's in the same boat so we've got a few decisions to make."

Jarrad Waite and Paul Bower are also in the frame for inclusion next week, while Yarran will need to pass a fitness test on his thigh if he is to take the field against the Eagles.

Great - love to see Walks and Grigg back in.
I reckon Grigg is going through a rough patch but in time will make a speedy, strong contribution to the team. I love them to focus on him as a hard inside mid as a development path.

Withe the imminent return of injured and suspended players next week, Waite, Walker, Bower, Lucas and probably Armfield and Yarran there's huge pressure for spots.

I'm thinking that's enough motivation for the 22 selected and in particular the selected peripheral players to step up and show their wares.

I'm starting to build up confidence for a Blues win this weekend .... but certainly not feeling cocky.

No mention of Army being out...but that doesn't mean much I guess...
exciting to have Walks back!
Don't mind who else plays as long as their amps go up to 11.

Definitely. Lose this, Port and Sydney win, and we'll be back in the pack fighting for an 8 spot. Sweating it a bit on the injury list - is it confirmed Armfield will miss?

Great news!

The run of Walker and/or Grigg should really give us a boost.

Should really win this.

Walks is back.

Ratts also strongly hinted to Grigga coming back. Sure, his prep is not ideal after 3 weeks out, but his Ants form was pretty good pre his injury. The MC must see him as better than the alternatives, fair enough. The kid can play, we need to have another look at him.

If JK is on the money re Army, I see it like this:

Walks for White
Houla for Yarran
Grigg for Johnson
Browne for Army

Kerr for Yarran if no Houla.

Where this leaves Brock, I'm not sure. Would rather Grigg at this stage given its @ Etihad and they both have similar iffy fitness levels.

lets hope if Grigg does come in, he learns a few more tricks than "Bomb it long", I'm hoping Hadley comes in over Grigg though if one of the two are selected. Despite the article saying Tex will return they've done the same with Bower once this season only to not even have him in the emergencies list. Yazz will be unlikely unfortunately, will be interesting to see how Mitch fills he void, did it very well against the Hawks

You'd think it would be McLean for Johnson and Grigg for Army

I dont care whos in, we should have enough depth to cover those outs. We only have two key players out waite/bower.

Can judd kick a goal on the run please. He should of kicked 2-3 last week.
