I am worried about this game too. Too many outs ... and Hawks are due - lots of premiership players still in that side.

All of a sudden EVERY TV commentator is tipping Carlton with certainly .... but this weeks Carlton is a weaker team than the one that was paying $5 against Cats not many weeks ago. Don't quite understand it.

Hawks over $3 is over the odds imo.

Big week - hope they don't take the Hawks lightly - surely not. A win here is another important step to being a GOOD side ...... who am I kidding .... every week is life and death!

i'd play gibbs on franklin. he is a star in a lockdown role accross half back. the height differnence would not bother me.

With Mclean injured and Judd taking a battering Hadley is in our best team for the rest of the year. Play him now.

Move GIBBS into the middle and find a HBF that can run and pressure.

But Gibbs isnt a rugged inside mid. I see him more the classy half backer more similar to Peter Motley than Nathan Buckley.
Having class in our backline is playing a big part of our current form. If it is not broke dont fix it in my opinion.

I've got the same feeling I had before the Essendon* game ..... hopefully I don't know what I'm talking about.

We'll smash em. All we have to do is apply enough midfield pressure to not allow them deliver the ball into Buddy and Roughy cleanly. Once the ball hit the deck in their forward line they're screwed.

Obviously thats not ALL we need to do but it'll go a long way to winning the game IMO.

We should beat them, and McLean should never be mentioned as part our best lineup ever again. Never ever.

Premature call on McLean IMO, he's only been injury free for a couple of games in the Navy Blue and was servicable.

We should smash the Hawks, but funny things happen once the teams walk out onto the field. I'm strangely uncomfortable about this game.

Need to take the pressure off Murphy - The only way I can see this happening is when Maclean or Hadley return - Judd doing a lot of inside work and Murph is copping the out side heavy tag - Need to get Judd back outside and let them worry about both Murph and Judd - Murph was slipping forward and kicking goals his recent work in the midfield since Maclean has been out has limited his ability to do that

Get Hads in if fit for Lucas

I agree. Good point.

Let the opposition worry about Judd & Murphy whilst someone else (who is capable) does the inside grunt work.

We wont be taking the Hawks lightly... Ratts stated earlier in the week that we wont be fooled by their ladder position as most of their premiership team from 2008 is still out there on the park...
The injuries and suspensions to our team came at a bad times as things seemed like they were slowly coming together nicely.. Oh well, hope oiur inclusiins can rise to the occasion...

GO BLUES!!!!

This is my first time on TalkingCarlton.... great site!

Back to the topic, we should really beat the hawks if we don’t all the work over the past 5 weeks is wasted!

Lot of nervous nellies around here.

1. We aren't playing short. We are replacing the players who are injured.

2. We aren't playing Geelong, or given this year results, we aren't playing Essendon* either.

These are the sort of games we need to win and win comfortably. Our midfield is intact. I'd put Jamison on roughhead which means he's out of the equation. Put Thornton on Franklin. White and the other defenders to double team him.
We'll win this game in midfield. It's how they beat us last year, Sewell and mitchell carved us up in the 2nd half.

I'll take them lightly. Blues by 12 goals pulling up.

Let's not forget that smug little midget camping 15 players in front of Fev when he was on 99 goals.

AND last week they beat Tiges by 3 points. 3 points FFS!

Yes, we must never forget the "Battle of Brittain", and Ratts should remind the players.
