A terrible week for us to have Bower, Walker and White out. Though having said that, I couldn't see White playing on Roughy or Buddy in any case. Ideally we'd have Jamo on Roughy and Bower/Walker on Buddy. I don't really want to see Thornton on either of them, he can play third man up. I'm guessing they will put Hendo down back, or maybe bring in Austin. Really, we don't have many choices. Could JR possibly play on Buddy? Probably not, and we'd be sacrificing too much run.

Ratts will earn his money this week.

long term i think Austin will take T-Birds spot
why not give him a chance this week
id love to see it

Aussie has only had half a game in the Bullants reserves and a full game in the Bullants seniors. Not sure he would be ready yet.

Must win game. Now the media are talking us up as a top four side, these are the games you must win. Hawthorn will be better as they have a lot of players back so it won't be a walk in the park.

Hope the boys are switched on.

I have heard that Wiggins has been told his opportunities will be very limited this year. So I doubt he'll get the call up.

Interesting news re selection:

http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/ ... fault.aspx

Quote:
With Jarrad Waite suspended for two weeks, the Blues coach foreshadowed a forward-line shake-up that could see both Lachie Henderson and Robbie Warnock come into the side. "Henderson is an option for us and also the combination of maybe bringing Warnock in and allowing Kreuzer to play forward," he said.

Quote:
Boom youngster Kane Lucas will miss with a hamstring strain while Ryan Houlihan will be given until the last minute to prove he is over his hamstring ailment.

Brock McLean is no chance to return to the line-up with a quad strain continuing to trouble him.

These changes make sense, think about it.

They lack quality tall defenders - throw Kreuzer down there to create havoc. Could even lead to Roughie being thrown back - a win/win for us.

There rucks are ordinary, Jacobs/Warnock should be able to do the job.

Lachie apparently played very well against Buddy/Roughie in a game last year - that experience would have been invaluable. If Hendo has problems, swap he and Carlos. Carlos on either Buddy or Roughie gives us a good option, he certainly has the speed and agility for Buddy.

With Aussie short of a run and White likely to miss (apparently??), seems the best option for us in the circumstances.

I think White is right to go. However, I was under the impression Warnock was injured. He didn't play last week for The Ants against Casey with injury cited as the reason. However, if he's good to go, I don't mind seeing him into the ruck with Sauce and pushing Kreuz forward to stretch their undermanned defence. It will be interesting to see if Hoops gets up. Presume he will be named in the extended bench.

So...maybe...

OUT: LUCAS (INJ), WAITE (SUS)
IN (24-MAN SQUAD): HENDERSON, WARNOCK, ROBINSON, ANDERSON

I reckon Hendo and Robbo will play.

If we are ever going to try Kreuzer plus 2 ruckmen in the one side, this is the week to do it. It might just work against the (more or less) ruckless Hawks.
On the other hand it could be a spectacular failure. My main worry is that we might really miss Kreuz at the centre bounces, and if he's not doing the job up forward and we send him back in the middle we don’t want the two other ruckmen sitting on the bench at the same time, stuffing up our midfield rotations. We could send one forward, but neither Warnock nor Jacobs are much good up there.

My gut is telling me that Ratts is not really serious about this, and will opt for just Kreuz and Sauce on Sunday.

I think if we are going to try the 3 ruckmen tactic then 2 of the 3 have to be MK and Hammer as they have much greater flexibility (well moreso Kreuz) than the other 2. I cant see Warnock Sauce and MK all in the one team atm given we are building confidence and momentum with a smaller, faster gameplan.

Only way this happens though is if Hendo is brought in to play down back, and Kreuz/Carlos are the tall targets up forward.

He can still be in at centre bounces and not necessarily be a ruckman. In fact he did that it during the last quarter of the Port game. I'll repeat my earlier post, I don't want Thornton anywhere near Roughead.

Playing Kreuzer up forward would be a good test for the undersized Hawthorn defence.

I think we can manage that without bringing in another ruck.

Id hate to see us go too tall. We know we play our best with a good running team. Id like to think we will stick with that.

2 tall backs, two tall forwards and two rucks. The rest a variety onballer types.

 Dale Morris medium or tall? 190cm plus is classified as tall. The debate is all about how they play as we well know  . How about mediumish tall

Great to see Hadley and Browne in the frame.

Robinson maybe to provide the mindless agression with Waite out?
